Can't believe price they want for these...all they did was give it .The shield 45 features and you can get a laser one...i stick to the original one..

Many paid the same price for the Gen 1 before the rebates. Now S&W has to recoup those costs plus a profit. Until Unicef gets into the gun business we need to pay to play.

I saw and handled one today, and was quite impressed. And the $439.00 price tag seemed reasonable to me.

I got one for $400. Traded a marlin 30-30 and paid $50 to walk out the door with it. I never shoot rifles anymore so it's like I only paid $50 for it. This is my first shield and plan to use it as my EDC.

Sounds like they just went up $75-100. Perhaps later they will do more promotions. Very popular and good CCW piece.

Not to be disrespectful but, did you buy it?
I can't justify spending an additional $200 more than a currently discounted 1.0 (check Gunbroker) just for some grip texturing (which costs S&W nothing); a few useless scallops on the front of the slide (which costs S&W nothing); a slightly lighter trigger pull (which costs S&W nothing & is already light enough at 5.5 lbs. on my fired Shields); and a slightly louder reset that is only relevant to competition shooting (and also costs S&W nothing).
Maybe I'm missing something? Like a $150 dollar rebate so I'll buy a 2.0?

Yep..got the 45 for 359....has same features as the 9 and 40 shield..45 is awesome..plus i got the rebate for ammo and mags ..etc

I remember when new guns were introduced you could always depend on prices going up. It seems like the trend has changed to prices going down after the initial newness has worn off.
