I am a new M&P Shield 40 cal. owner. The gun came with a 6 and a 7 round mags. I ran 60 rounds through my gun yesterday, a box of Blazers, and a few American Eagles. Using an Uplula speed loader, the 6 round magazine will only take 5 rounds, I can pack a sixth round it tightly, but then it will not seat in the mag well all the way to lock in. The seven round mag has no issues. I don't recall the 6 round mag doing this the first time I loaded it with the Blazers, and I shot that box all up. So I am wondering if it is the ammo, or have others had this same problem?

Nor am I elderly or have arthritis.
I can load the mags by hand. The six round mag resist taking the sixth round, (by hand or by uplula) but it will go, but the mag will not seat into the mag well unless I remove one round out of the mag. The 7 round mag has no issues.

However, I did find that the spring was not attached to the plastic feed ramp at the top of the mag, the spring was just pushed up to the bottom of the ramp, and not attached to the fixture at all. So I set the spring in the attachment hole and all is well in the universe again. Thankks for the clue andrewcdud.

That makes sense, sorry if my previous post came off as condescending (reading it I can see where it may come off as that). I didn't even think about the possibility the mag wasn't assembled properly. I've seen others struggle with loading mags and it's a painful sight, I usually offer to help load mags for others.

I had one that was the same, and I was going to point you to the thread about it - but you got there first!

Sorry accepted, no injuries here from reading print on a screen.;)

Thanks Ken, I did search back 5 or 6 pages of post for an answer, it is easier to just ask after a while of poking around.

Glad you figured it out. My 40 shield is running flawless but only has about 300 rounds through it so far. Nice little pistol. I really like carrying it over my 45fs.
