did ya get my check yet turbo?
Just read through the majority of this thread.
I am very disappointed with Smith and Wesson and Federal.
6-7 Weeks waiting on SW to have a verdict and getting the run around.
Then Federal saying, ammo is fine and within spec, upon further review they are reloads.
And who knows if that is the truth. I have been wanting to buy a single stack 40 for CCW. This whole process the OP went through has really turned me off the Shield and has made me lean more towards buying the Walther PPS. I wonder how much SW would be involved in a Customer Service standpoint.
All in all, I wish HK made a single stack subcombact and my decision would be easy. I have fired thousands of rounds from my HK's and have had not one issue, not even a FTE. Using everything from Hertzer's Teflon rounds to +P Hornady.
To the OP, sorry on your misfortune. I know it was awhile ago, but at least you were not seriously hurt.
Past performance is no guarantee of future gains.I have fired thousands of rounds from my HK's and have had not one issue, not even a FTE. Using everything from Hertzer's Teflon rounds to +P Hornady.
Got it!! Thank you much!!!
My issue is not so much that the shield blew up. It is how SW handled it. Just on the first page of this section, there are two poor customer service stories.Past performance is no guarantee of future gains.
Just a short time spent on this forum will yield hundreds of people with experiences similar to yours, but with the Shield instead of the HK. You could go buy a new HK tomorrow and it might malfunction on the first round. You just never know. I have a 1911 that has thousands of rounds through it without an issue. The same could be said about several guns I've had. I also had a 1911 that had issues. These things happen sometimes.
To say that a particular company has a bad product based on one example is poor judgement.
When does the boy get his new toy? I'm excited myself!!!!
I ordered it today. 9mm Shield. I'm real excited to. Thanks to all you good folks out there. A 9 is what I wanted in the first place to go with my FS 9 M&P. Turbo has to drop off the check and my FFL isnt gonna charge me for the transfer either.![]()
Me too, but I'm not calling this one closed until 2001gmc has the gun in hand and has put a few hundred flawless rounds through it.i just love a happy ending!!!![]()
I have the same problem, with an m&p pistol, it looks like the pictures you posted .Customer Service said it was ammunition and not the guns fault. I received a similar letter, I opted for the replacement too, at reduce price. That was last summer no replacement yet. HOW CAN YOU GET RESULTS SO FAST I you happy for you but can't understand my delay
turbo38gn did you get my PM?
Yes sir!! That's a start... I'm waiting on one more PP to get in, then I'll cut a bank check. I plan to call over to Smith, double check some info and get a check over there..
I'll be in Little Rock, Ar. Feb 21-24....Are you or anyone else in the area ....
So, let me come at this with different phraseology.
How many times have you used HK's customer service? If they did make a single stack sub compact, why would their customer service be any better than this one?
I agree that 2001gmc has received poor service with this problem. Not the worst I've seen, but it certainly could be better. I've already state that I believe the response from Federal to be a flat out lie. I believe they are hoping that 2001gmc won't attempt to prove them wrong and I'm sure he won't so, they'll get away with this particular falsehood. Shame on them. Still, this is one case out of thousands. Every now and then someone is going to receive poor service, that's life. What I take issue with, and always will, is the idea that because of this one issue, everyone will receive poor service. Further, I contest the notion that because a person has had good service out of one product that means every product, including customer service, will be good.
I'll be in Little Rock, Ar. Feb 21-24. A customer just purchased the plane tickets and emailed them to me tonite. I'll be tuning on his and several other turbo cars for a day or 2 then a couple of the guys are taking me either trap or skeet shooting. One of my customers was one of the top shooters in the country... I told him to just let me shoot with a cheap gun cause if I got hooked I know I can't buy one of those crazy $30,000 dollar plus shotguns he uses.. Kreiger or something like that...
Are you or anyone else in the area ....
That would be a Krieghoff and they don't cost $30K unless he has some custom engraving by a famous engraver (don't laugh, it's not uncommon). A typical Krieghoff K-80 will run around $12K new and they hold their value very well.I told him to just let me shoot with a cheap gun cause if I got hooked I know I can't buy one of those crazy $30,000 dollar plus shotguns he uses.. I have shot at the Remington range just outside of Little Rock. It is a very nice range. Beware, shooting clays can indeed be addictive. I typically shoot about 15,000 rounds a year between Trap and Skeet and I'm a lightweight.
Yeah, I don't doubt it. I was just saying that a K-80 can be had for less. Some of their custom engraving can be quite elaborate:

The prices reflect the craftsmanship that goes into it.
If he lets you shoot a K-80, don't pass it up. They are marvelous to shoot.

They can shoot as many as 1,000 doves in one day down there. This past fall he went to, I think Argentina... is that where they shoot the doves... like 100's of them a day.... he said he just stood there, shot until his gun until it was empty and the guide or whatever you call him just hands him another gun loaded and ready to go. He said wave after wave of birds fly over head. When the day is done, he pays by the shell shot... sounds crazy to me..
