I just took my new Shield to the range today after cleaning and ran about 50 rounds though it. It was ALL over the place with both sights and laser. I am an OK shooter and can put all of my other 20 some handguns in the X, but an IDPA champ, I'm not. I concentrated on the basics and the 40 in a small size is not an issue with me and shooting. I am HOPING that these handguns have a break in period and it will zero in, or at least settle down after a couple hundred rounds. Has anyone else out there had break-in issues with the Shield? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have to say, love the gun, but if I can't hit the X, it will not be kept in my stable.

Keep shooting it, u will get more use to it. Its not a FS or a compact, its a sub and the grip is different.

As with anything, u will get better with practice.

There are a million posts on this and you will find all the answers u need. Just do a little search up top. =-)

You can start by reading the below post. As u can see the OP had the same problem as you with his 9mm. Read on through and u will see the problem was solved with practice.

When running department quals, I routinely hit a 12" steel plate at 100 yards with my 40 Shield. The compact guns are more difficult to shoot precisely and with speed when compared to their full size counterparts. I have had my hands on probably 12 Shields in both 9mm and 40, all of them have been very acurate.

The only way to know if it the gun or the shooter is to either use some type of shooting rest, with slow steady trigger pulls, or have another shooter, with excellent shooting skills, shoot the gun. My Shield 40 will consistently shoot 3 inch groups at 15 yards. As close as I will ever need from a SD handgun.

Thanks to all. I do have a pistol vise that I can shoot out of. I'm going to pull it out for the next trip and at least pull the gun out of the equation. I do shoot both a Kahr and an LC9 on a regular basis and am very accurate with both. The size and grip of both are similar to the Shield. Between the vise, running some more ammo, and doing some reading, I'm sure I'll get it into the X.
