Shield 45 and the Grip is Amazing!! UPDATE, range report

I agree that these are completely worthless for any practical reason, but then I have no use for full sized front cocking serations either. However, I don't mind the way these look on the Shield. Just a bit of embellishment that I could do without, but they don't bother me at all!

Put another 157 rounds through the Shield 45 this morning. Dead reliable, accurate and easily controllable.

10 yds as fast as I could pull the trigger, this gun is a beast.

Yes it is. I like to shoot mine more every time I take it out. I tend to range shoot my 9mm more just because its cheaper. But I like to put 30 - 50 through the shield while there and it feels better each time.

Awesome. Good to know that, no need to wait for one to be "made for" the .45 itself.
Thanks!

Slightly bigger overall, in the grip it's better. Why I never bought a Shield 9/40 was because the grip felt too thin. This is better.

Comparing it to my XDS and G26 it feels like a much bigger gun, probably due to length and grip length.

Your grip is much higher on both the XDS and G26 also.

Shooting it this morning, I'll post my thoughts this afternoon

Exactly why I chose my XDS-9 over the Shield-9. The grip felt to thin for my liking. Its fatter near the hand and gets thinner toward the trigger. Plus IMO the Shield had just a slight more recoil, possibly because of the milling on the front of the slide which had to eliminated a little weight on the front of the gun. Just my observations after shooting both.

The Shield 45 has really grown on me since that post. 2 layers of bike innertube and the grip is perfect.
Gonna get a 9 and do the same.

Firing the Shield 45 has become a love affair. As much as I like the XDS45, I like the Shield better, it's deadly accurate, easier to control than the XDS and dead reliable.

The Shield 45 is ridiculous. Another 50 through today, just can't get enough of it.

The outer targets were shot with G26 (another favorite) and the center is 50 rds of Freedom 230 Gr with the Shield 45.

All fired as fast as I could pull the trigger. Amazing, controllability of the Shield is superb and the rounds just go where the front sight is. Great defensive pistol

Just to show the real sizes of the groups..Deer park water bottle.

Not bad. Not bad at all. :D These pistols are surprisingly accurate if the user does their part.

I have to ask, though. Did you use the top of the sight as your POA or the dot? I used the former, and my shots seemed to be a little high. (I'll hazard a guess that S&W intended for the dot to be the actual POA.)

I assume the dot, remember I'm stroking trigger as soon as sight comes back on target.....VERY fast.....flash picture of dot and fire.

This is not even remotely carefully aimed fire

Love my Shield 45 grips but had to put Talon on them as in very hot high humidity weather I conceal with just a light shirt and no undershirt and the 45 grip was just a little to aggressive on bare belly skin.

Well, the New Shield 45 got a small but for me, huge, modification this morning. Plus 2 layers of inner tube which fills out the grip perfectly. Much more natural draw, with no grip adjusting from draw to shot, and points better. Was pointing to the left slightly before removing that overhang.

What size inner tube did you use for your grip? This sounds like something that would be perfect for my 9mm.

Recently purchased the Shield--first shot(s) @ 5 yds. Great firearm.

I think I paid $345 for my 9mm Shield with a 3rd mag. I would pony up the $419 for one in .45, if I can find one. Curious is extra mags are out for it yet and if it would fit in my Alien Gear Shield holster, thickness is just a matter of an extra washer, I think..........

I want one!

Yes, extra mags are out...I just received 2 extra extended mags from Midway...

I put some rubber grip tape on one side to protect my skin.

Those front slide scallops look like a disgruntled employee took out his aggression on the gun with a milling machine.
HOWEVER, I like and want it.
