Shield .45

Depends how well the XDs does. If those get the the stellar reviews the Shield 9mm is getting, I'm sure S&W will figure out a way to throw their hat in the ring!

Since you mentioned the XDS...My LGS told me that a 9mm XDS will come out at the Shot Show to give the 9mm Shield a run for the 9mm market...This may be old news....

As much as I am SIG fan, I carry a Kahr pm40 or 45 the most due to their size and ease of concealment. Both of those little guns are extremely popular and S&W WILL enter the single stack 45 sub compact (shield) market just as springfield has recently. Its really a no brainer. I REALLY hope the can the goofy safety though. I realize its a requirement for the communist states but here's to hoping that they start the 45 shield without it!

SHIELD .45 ACP

The concept of a .45 acp Shield is not improbable. After all, during the time of the 3rd Gen. semi-autos, there were single stack full size .45's, compact .45's and the sub-compact (for that time) CS45. In addition, the CS 45 with Big Dog grips is approximately the same size as a G36. Like anything, they have to figure if the R&D, tooling, etc., will worthwhile with the amount of sales.
JMH $.02

I am not a .40 fan. I got the 9mm. If I was going for another .45 I would just get a XD-S. I prefer the push the .45 had in my sig 1911 3" over the snap of the .40 round. I only own 9mm's and .45's I have shot .40's in sig, glock, Springfield , and S&W and never found one I liked as much as a .45.

I have both and they are very similar in size like someone said above. I like them both. That said if S&W comes out with a .45 Shield I will buy it. I carry my Shield daily it's a 9mm. I haven't had the XDS that long and have to get a holster made to accommodate the laser. Have carried it without the laser and it's sweet.
Update 11/9/15
XDS is gone. Could not shoot it to my satisfaction. I own a Glock 30S and can shoot golf ball size groups with it at 10 yards same with my XD mod2 .45. Something about the XDS and my hand didn't get along. I would always get a flyer with every group. I own like 20 handguns and that was the only one I had that problem with. That said I have changed my mind I would not buy a .45 shield if one ever came out.

I would not buy one if they made it. It would be just too small. Nothing wrong with the .45c. Now, if they made a slimmer .45c, I'd buy that right off.

Never happen. It will take an entirely NEW pistol. You cannot get the 45 into the length of a Shield frame, it's too long. They will have to build a special gun to hold the 45 or 10mm.
Explain how the XDs and Shield are almost the same frame size then. I have had both and got rid of my XDs due to having to send in for the recall and then send it back a week after getting it back for a broken trigger.
Besides, you don't need the 45, just the right 9 or 40 ammo.
Need is irrelevant just like some anti-gunner saying that you don't need an AR for hunting.

If they make one in 45 ACP I would think about getting one. Granted I would wait for S&W to work out the bugs first.

Now I have to get money together to get this. But I have probably two years before I'd need the money anyway as it is likely that they will be scarce in the wild like the original was and also to give the market price a chance to equalize. But it will be something I want to try.
