My new Shield came with an 8 lb. trigger and gritty as heck. I did the Burwell technique trigger job. The trigger is smooth, but breaks at 6.1 lbs.. I did straighten the bump very slightly, but didn't thin the sear so engagement surfaces are factory full length. I would like a 4.5-5 lb trigger. Should I should I change the angle of the bump area a hair more?

I did the sear Buwell modification and it helped considerably. I swore I wasn't going to pay another $85 for an Apex kit, but I did. I finally rationalized that there might be a lesser liability issue with a professional product than with my modified FCG.

It it on my 45c and I like it DCAEK, and it did help the trigger pull. I unfortunately don't have access to trigger pull guage. I do have a fish scale but it seems to be about as accurate as a politicians promise.

My suggestion is to keep working on the sear you have and see if you can get what you want. If not go with Apex.

I measured my stock Shield trigger pull at 6.5 pounds, using a Lyman trigger guage. How are you measuring the pull? If you install the Apex kit, using their shorter/softer blocker spring, the duty carry kit will yield a 5 to 5.5 pound pull. If you kept the stock Shield trigger and sear spring, the pull goes down to 4 to 4.5 pounds. So by doing the mods on your own, you didn't get the same results. Their blocker spring might reduce the trigger pull .5 pound maximum. You now have 6 pounds, less the .5 pounds the softer blocker spring would yield, you would be at 5.5 pounds. Using the Apex parts would yield 1 to 1.5 pound less. So even though you try to use the online Burwell trigger instructions, you are not getting the full results. The Apex sear is only .007 shorter in height than the stock sear. That could not reduce the pull any more than ounce or two. Removing the hump on the sear would likely be good for 4 to 8 ounces.

I know as I have the Apex striker and blocker in my Shield 40. My pull is even less as I used a Glock trigger spring, which reduces the pull an extra .5 pound. I am getting 3 pounds 10 ounces, at break point. This video shows the pull: M&P Shield 31/2 Pound Apex Trigger With Over Travel Stop - YouTube

Bob, Did you use a stock Glock trigger spring? Which model if there is a difference?

I purchased from Wolf Springs, their #32241 Glock Std. Trigger Spring. That was back in early June. It cost $3.49 with $3.99 for shipping. Yes the shipping was more than the part. It is almost exactly the same as the stock Shield trigger spring, except with lower pressure. It fits and works fine.
