Shield 9-is there a one piece replacement for the bottom of the extended mag?

I recently purchased a shield 9. Absolutely wonderful gun! Only problem I have with it is the two piece bottom of the extended magazine that comes with the gun. I often find the second piece rides up and interferes with seating the magazine. Is there a one piece aftermarket replacement for this? I could not find anything using Google, but maybe I'm not looking for the right part name.

You can call s&w, explain your issue they will send you replacement parts. I think it's called floor plate. Hope that helps.

I put a small amount of super glue on the bottom of the sliding filler to fix it to the floor plate. It was driving me crazy!

It is just enough to fix it, but it can still be removed, if necessary.

Perhaps a better solution is a small drop of black silicon ATV. That's likely easier to remove than glue and it will do the same job while allowing the magazine to be easily disassembled when necessary. Doesn't take much to hold that movable piece in place and it's easier to clean up, and it's the right color too!

not sure if it would work here, but when i used an x-grip adapter on a full size mag in my compact; i wrapped a layer or two of electrical tape around the mag where the adapter sat. Held it in place just fine, and was easy to remove when needed as well

black rtv from autozone works well. slide it all the way down. run a small bead around the top of the extension and lightly swipe it with a wet finger. just like you would caulking your tub. works very well and can be taken off later.

Depends on how much the spacer moves while carried in some mag pouches. I haven't had a lot of trouble with it, but my extra mag will always show that spacer tipped a bit away from bottomed out on the mag plate. It conceivably could result in a failure to fully seat a reloaded mag when done under stress, and that's something I don't much like to leave for chance. And the spacer does lose a small bit of it's original tension over time when it's carried daily around my waist. Probably because my love handle puts more pressure on it than some of you skinny guys do! Even if it doesn't bother with seating, I just like the looks of the thing in its proper place on the mag. You could completely remove the thing, but that really doesn't look to good, either on a spare mag or when that mag is seated in the gun. Doesn't feel too good with that spacer missing either !

Since the spacer can be held in place without a lot of mess (if you are careful with the black ATV, and since the stuff is pretty easy to clean up and off if you wish to do so, it seems to be an acceptable way to "fix" this situation.

this ^^^^ or run a strip of electrical tape and slide the filler over it.

Great Ideas. Will have to try.

Ever since I got a nasty pinch - blood blister, etc. on my right palm when seating the magazine into the pistol with the bottom of my left hand (the spacer ws not seated properly) - Now I always check to make sure the spacer is seated before putting the magazine in the pistol.

Another idea would be to use the double sided tape that is used for installing grips to golf clubs. It uses a solvent to slide the grip on over the sticky and when the solvent dries the grip is held in place.
