Hi
Just picked up my shield 9 this morn and tonight just put 220 trouble free rounds through it. shot American Eagle 124 grain ball Federal Champion 124 gr ball. Some Speer +P GDHP 124 grain and some Federal HST 124 +P ( federal is slightly more accurate, I mean slightly) This is an awesome awesome weapon, Laser accurate mild recoil and very reliable. My 40 Shield is nice BUT My Shield 9 is great. The shield in 40 really does not recoil to much for its size. But compared to the 9 its two totally different weapons (IMHO). For me the 9 is more accurate than the 40 and that 0ne (1) extra round is a physcological thing for me. A few more mags and maybe 200 more rounds and i think i found a perfect (or near) perfect CCW weapon.
that is all carry on

I have the 40 and I have shot my friends 9mm Shield. The 40 has more felt recoil than the 9mm, no question about it. It is not bad recoil, but more than the 9. Shooting similar ammo in each gun, high power SD ammo or target ammo, the recoil is more in the 40, as it should be.

As far as accuracy goes, I doubt there is any difference. If you locked both guns in a rest the groupings would be next to identical. The difference could be that since the 40 has more recoil, there my be a slight flinch involved. I have done sandbag rest accuracy shooting with both and the groups were the same. As far as ammo grouping go, they might vary a little at 25 yards, but unless your using some bad ammo, which you are not, the grouping again should be similar. The +P ammo does go out at a much higher fps and would be less affected by wind.

Eventually we will be able to convert the 40 to 9mm, when barrels become available. Then we have a more powerful SD gun, but can practice with cheaper, lower recoil ammo.

Hi
Another 150 trouble free rounds thru my Shield 9 last night.(over 350 now) Used Federal Champion 115 gr Ball, Some American Eagle 124 grain Ball, and Just a mag or two of Speer GDHP 124 +P. Functioned flawlessly. Fired as fast as I could pull the trigger, Did some one handed drills non shootong hand drills. Did some double tap drills, Body Armor drills, Just a real nice accurate weapon. I ordered Two more mags from Greg Cote LLC which should be here today. Oh, the front sight white dot fell out, which also happened to my Shield 40.

Been shooting the daylights outa mine (9) since last April and zero problems. Also helped sell quite a few by letting some people test fire mine. Still zero problems. They are still coming in slow but fairly regular and get bought before they see the display case.

Ya, I think this will be able to take a beating in your Typical M&P fashion.
I still think it shoots tighter than my Shield 40 (Just a tad tho), I am happy about the one extra round the 9 has, Just today got my 2 spare 7 rnd mags from Greg Cote. Ordered them late in the day on Tues came in todays mail.
All is All i am very impressed with this gun and hope it will remain my EDC for while.

my 40 was great i sold my kahr pm40. Now that i have mine back and it doesn't drop magazines(according to smith) I will put some rounds thru it and carry it. When I pocket carry i'll go back to my kahr cm9 as the shield is a tad too big for me to be comfy. Perfect for iwb and it will put my glock back on the side lines once i get another 100 trouble free rounds down range!

I love my Shield .40 and think it shoots great. I now have over 1000 rounds through it with one FTE. No mag drop issues either. That being said, I spent some time with my wife shooting her Shield 9mm a couple of weekends ago and was very impressed with it. I was even more impressed with the confidence and control she showed shooting it. She was always a bit uneasy shooting my .40. I encouraged her to take a female only handgun fundamentals course, and she did...what a great confident booster it was for her. Long story short...both guns are great.
