shield 9mm my new send back to smith and wesson

ok so i bought a new shield on sale at my local lgs i was cleaning it and this is what i found? i wonder if i should send back to smith and wesson on the barrel there is a small x in upper right corner? also slide already had wear i will post pics i have not shot the gun just cleaned it. i am worried about rust issues especial if i have not even shot yet.

i can not get other pic to post but it has kinda a gold finish on slide it has weird gold like this persons shield ? normal i have not even shot it yet
