I have both and carry both. Both are good BUG and I like having the same ammo for what I decide to carry that day.

I own both, but prefer the Shield 45. Not saying Shield 9 is a slouch, but I've found the 45 to be more accurate, better trigger pull out of the box, and conceals the same.
Groo here
' The 9 mm lives on FPS , needed to open the HP.
The shorter the barrel, the harder it gets to get the magic 1000 fps needed.
The 45 , being larger, need not expand at all.
Also the larger bore looses less FPS by % than the smaller one.
This is why ,on my short barrel guns, I tend to use Flat point
or fpfmj bullets and I don't expect them to open.......
Given the velocity loss from the stubby barrels, I'd take the .45.
Expansion from either is going to be a maybe.
I'll take the bigger bullet, thank you.
If I'm anticipating needing more mag capacity than bullet performance, I've got plenty of 9mms that hold 12 or more rounds.
So those that have a 45 shield are you using the 6 rd or 7 rd magazine most of the time?

With the loads available in 9mm I don't think I'd bother. Not much of a gain.Thinking about a Shield 45 again.
I have had the Shield in 9mm for years and love it.
I like 45acp but not sure its worth getting a 45acp shield.
Thoughts?
Did you or would you switch to 45acp?
Pics? Holsters? How you carry?

In the past, there was a more marked difference between 9mm, .40s&w, and .45auto. But not so much anymore. Not with the modern loads that are available these days. No handgun is going to knock anyone down. Regardless of caliber.WRONG! The .45 has way more knockdown power than 9mm.
