I'm thinking about buying a .40 Shield, and am interested in folks experiences and preference with ammo. For EDC I rotate my Glock 19 or G23, and carry 180gr Speer Gold Dots in the G23. I prefer "heavy for caliber" as a general rule, but would like to hear some feedback on what you guys are carrying in your Shield .40's? Thanks. George

Hornady critical duty 175 gr. Love them. Carry my shield and compact with them. Shot about 20 rds in each gun because there soo expensive

When I got my Shield, the only thing available that day was 165gr ammo. From the get go, I liked the way my gun handled it, and it was pretty accurate, so I stuck with it. I've shot WWB, American Eagle, Freedom reman, Hornady Critical Defense, Speer Gold Dots, and not one malfunction. I use the Gold Dots as my main SD ammo.

IMO, you can't go wrong with Speer Gold Dots. It's what I use in all my SD firearms.

i carry federal 165 hydro-shok in mine very accurate and no problems feeding

I carry whatever 165 or 180 grain I can find. I've shot gold dots, critical duty, hst, and golden sabers and all are accurate from my 40 shield. Pretty much which ever I can find the cheapest.

180 grain HST in both my full size and shield
