Shield back to S&W for the THIRD time

Sorry you had such a tough time w/ your Shield, what are you going to get after you sell it?

Also wanted to say hello from Maine since you mentioned Kittery Trading Post.

I'm not sure, don't like the DAO on the ruger sr9, might check out and xds. I've been carrying my glock 19 or Ruger lcp. Decisions decisions..... I'm going to list the gun trying to sell it as a carry package or something with the holster, night sights, extra mags etc and see if I get any bites.

Know how you feel. I had to send a 40 cal M&P back to S&W before they got it fixed. First was dead trigger, then light strikes. I just kept sending it back. Appears to be ok now though.

M and P Shield 9mm safety stuck on.

Smith and Wesson M and P Shield 9mm with HBH serial number the safety just stayed on. The gun quit working and I could not disengage the safety. I called Smith and Wesson and sent the gun in. I hope they can fix it. If it was not on my CCW permit I would dump it in the trash. Having a CCW pistol that stopped and won't fire at all makes my blood run cold.

Another reason to dislike safeties on a striker fired pistol, LOL.

I hope S&W brings your Shield back to specs with a usable safety. I see no reason whey they won't.

To the OP

Just out of curiousity when you sent the pistol back to S&W did you send the magazines as well or no? The reason why I say that is because I have 3 mags for my shield. 2 of the mags I have shot nearly 1k rounds out of both & not one single failure of any kind, ever.... Then i have this one 8 rnd mag that I swear this is true, but whenever I use it, I get the same problem you are describing at least once out of every 30-50 rounds or so. I put that mag off to the side and loaded it up with snap caps and its been sitting like that for weeks, I have tried using it since but the mag spring is noticably stiffer than the other 2 mags. I wonder if your issue are overly stiff springs in the mags & NOT the pistol itself?

Try this, grab one of your friends mags from one of their shields that is known to function great and try his mag in your pistol

Have you even read the thread?
He said the old gun was destroyed over 2 years ago.

Since the thread has been brought back to life, I'll give a little update. Looks like it's been nearly 6 weeks since I sent my shield in for the third time. I called S&W yesterday to see if I could get an ETA at very least of when I would get my new gun, as the old gun has already been destroyed.

Oh, and he did send the mags in:

Well I finally got a phone call from a rep this morning. They said they would replace my shield with a new one. They will send it to my ffl and pay for the transfer after I fax them a copy of the receipt. I purchased and paid for trijicon night sights to be installed on the gun, I was told that they can't instal them on the new gun because it's not "their" department, even though they removed them from the old gun. I'll have to pay for them to be "re-installed". I also had a set of talon grips on the gun which obviously can't be salvaged. They are sending the night sights and the original mags to my house. I am really hoping that this new shield works, I love the ergos and slim frame. If I hadn't purchased a raven concealment holster, night sights, and extra mags, I would probably just sell the new gun and cut my losses. I'm still upset about how much ammo I wasted in an effort to get the gun functioning, oh well. 4th times a charm, er..... I asked when I would get my new shield and the rep said he didn't know, he couldn't give me and eta and that my ffl would call me when it was in. I asked if it would be a week, a month? The rep said he didn't know and to have a good day.
