I have a N82 Tactical Professional that I use for every day carry, but was wondering what you all think about travel options. I travel, by car, quite a bit. Sometimes up to 18 hours to Florida, my next trip will be 10 hours and was trying to decide what to use during the trip. I love my IWB holster for regular edc, but for extended travel times and ease of access I don't believe my IWB will be my best option. I've thought about a car mount or possibly a shoulder rig, and I'm fond of Glalco so I would gravitate towards a higher line of rig. I just find it hard to justify a possible $100+ purchase for vehicle use only. I've been searching online in different forums, but could not find a decent answer. I've even considered carrying my 9c as my car carry. I hope I did not miss a similar post and I look forward to what you all suggest. Thanks

norsmis,

Great idea, thank you. I know there will be a few options. Ill just have to track down what's going to be legal in the states I will be traveling. Thanks again.

I found that I can carry a Shield or J-frame, in a belt-slide holster, in the 4 O'clock position, and I can't even tell that it's there, when I drive. This included all day driving, and long trips.

Occasionally carry a 1911 in Kramer horsehide crossdraw on long vehicle trips..seat belt rides under gunbelt/holster. Oversize, untucked, short sleeve colored shirt - buttoned or unbuttoned..well, until exit the vehicle and then buttoned.

IWB strong side carry [26 or Shield 9] can work but find seat belt may restrict quick access.

Enjoy your time in FL and say Hello to Mr. Mouse if you see him.

Best.

Florida Regulations

My understanding from my concealed carry class is that you may carry the gun in your vehicle as a concealed weapon (if you have a permit from a state that Florida has reciprocity with) or in a holster, etc. Florida reg regarding firearms in vehicles

Thanks for posting, I normally carry around the 4 o'clock position, my only concern is having access to the firearm while in my seat belt, I would hate to find myself in a situation where the seat belt restrained me from accessing my shield. I also was reading through KY's traveling laws on CCW and to me it seems it has to be out of a holster but secured in a factory compartment in the vehicle (armrest, glove box). Just looking at my options before the trip. Thanks again.

haha thanks Unk, that ol Mr Mouse and Goofy get me in trouble every time I see them lol. I never considered a crossdraw, I appreciate the reply. And I see you understand my issue on the seat belt being restrictive in case any situation arises.

Thank you for the links and info on the FL Statutes Plinker, it's always nice to know what lies ahead once I reach another State.

Thanks again.

+1

Same goes for Kentucky, plus KY allows open carry, while FL does not.

This is if you don't have your CCDW lic.

I wedge my Shield 9mm and Remora holster between the split seat of the F-250. Put the hat over it while driving. Easy in, easy out.

I use a Remora holster, and I have to check to make sure that I did not forget it since it is so comfortable.

Thought about one of those. Do you ever worry or have you experienced it wiggling out of place?

That's exactly how I perceived their law pertaining to carrying concealed in a car. We are in the same situation lol

Someone mentioned doing this as well, going to take a look to make sure I'd have the room between the seats in the travel vehicle and possibly go that route or go with one of the under the steering wheel options.

Thank you for the photos

I travel with Mine in a remora wedged between the seat and console covered by a stocking cap

I have a Sticky Holster which the same thing basically as the Remora and my experience is no, it does not wiggle out of place. very comfortable and concealable.

After trying a N82 and an Old Faithful I think I will stick with the Remora/Sticky type holster for warmer weather carry and a good OWB for the winter months
