A vise, hammer and non-marrying punch is all you should need. Dawson Precision has a video on how to install a dovetail front sight.

I just had a set of Big Dots installed on my Shield for $30. Well worth letting someone else beat on my gun! From what I've heard, though, the front sights are much easier than the rears.

I suppose you can do it yourself. I've worked on guns a fair amount. Kind of like cars though, or working on the house, sometimes for me it just makes sense to have someone else do it.

Often worth the money, extra tools, having to do it twice and so on.

But, if you've got the patience, time, tools to do it, why not?

My brother in law replaced his sights on his shield and used a sight pusher which is what I would recommend you use, if you have one. If not I would let a gunsmith do it. For just the front sight I don't see it being more than $30.00-$40.00 dollars. I am not one that wants to chance using a mallot and trying to tap it out not saying you can't do it. But please post pictures and let us know what you think after the install because I am looking for sights for my shield. Thanks and good luck.

Thanks for advice guys. I called a local Gunsmith and it goes for $25. Not bad since I dont have all the tools I would need. Cant wait to get it on..also adding the Talon grips. Thank You be safe.

That's great! Please post pictures when you get it installed. I would like to see it as an option for my shield. Thanks
