Shield info?

Has anybody heard any word of when a new shipment of shields is to be sent out?

As far as I know, they're constantly going out. Didn't hear that they stopped. My LGS has been getting a couple almost weekly.

With many popular guns, it kinda boils down to the relationship between your LGS Dealer and his Distributor and (sometimes) how many Distributors your LGS utilizes.

Edit: I forgot... S&W did close for a week or two for Summer Vacation a Month or two ago.

I don't have the exact numbers, as I am sure S&W doesn't want them on the street, but I have read they were producing around 5-600 a day. That was back in May. They send them out as fast as they can make them. Think about how many gun shops are around you, then multiply that by how many large cites there are in your state. Multiply that by 40 gun states. You see why you can't find them. That is just for the USA.

The Gunshops I frequent always have them in stock, and it's one of the top sellers, they literally get new ones in almost everyday. Not sure why people are having a hard time finding them, it's popular, but there is sufficient supply. It boggles my mind.

When I called custom service a couple months back the lady on the other end told me the Shield production line was operating 3 shifts and shipping daily.

When we get past this presidential election I am sure things will settle down assuming the party in control does not go on 2nd amendment attack mode which if they do we will see demand exceed supply more so than what we are witnessing today.

I ordered a 9mm 3 weeks ago. Store thought it would be 90 days. Picked it up this morning. Guy in front of me was picking up his .40. Federal Way, WA.

I picked a 9mm today, DXYxxxx, with a date of 8-14-12 on the envelope.

I don't know how reliable this info is but I was told by a distributor rep that when he spoke with his S&W rep, he was told that they were producing 1100 per month of the Shields and that was it.

I've been waiting six weeks now for a 9mm Shield. I ordered it from a gun shop that an acquaintance recommended. They have no ETA on the pistol. I have yet to see one in stock anywhere. I guess I waited too long to order one. I hope it comes before the election.

I think it's all about the buddy system and who's nice to their distributors. My LGS has a 17+ person waiting list for a 9mm and they received their first one a week ago.

gah .... well thanks all for the hints and updates. I have a few LGS lookin for me (or im on thier list). I just ordered an IWB holster from Theis holsters .... now i just gotta get ahold of the freakin gun (9mm). Thanks again gents for bein nice to the newby
