After only about 100 round through it the front sight dot fell out. Evidently the dot itself is a small plastic piece.

Didn't think it as a warranty issue so I just filled it in with sight paint.

Then a week or so later at the range both of the rear dots fell out. I didn't want to be without my EDC so I filled in the rear dot pockets with sight paint.

I sent a letter to S&W via the customer contact address and I did get their automatic reply, complete with an incident ticket number.

That was over 30 days ago and no other contact since. I recognize that they have bigger problems to deal with but an I expecting too much from S&W expecting to hear something from them by now?

Anyone else having this kind of customer NO-service from S&W?

all the white dots on my Shield 9 and 40 fell out. You seem to have fixed the problem already with sight paint.
Fortunate its not a chatastrophic failure where the weapon failed to run. You can live with a white dot falling out, although S&W should have fixed this problem by now.
Actually You might try to replace the sights with a 10-8 rear all black and the Ameriglo front sight. To me this works great as you have nothing to reference the front sight to, The rear is all black which allow's you to pick up the front sight rather quickly. Just my 2 cents.
By the way I have over 2,000 rounds through my Shield 9mm without a single malfunction.

I contacted S&W on an issue on my FS 9mm on 13 December.

I received a reply from 'Frank' in 18 December to contact Customer Service by phone.

I called the Support Center by phone today, and after a 13 minute wait, was able to speak to a rep about how to resolve my issue, which I will be doing tomorrow.

I've had at least 1 white dot fall out of almost every brand of pistol I've owned. It's never been a big deal for me. Definitely not worth even mentioning to the manufacturers. I don't know if S&W even makes their own sights, or if they get them from a vendor. I keep asking, but nobody's ever confirmed or denied this.

If S&W doesn't make them in-house, they have little to no control over it. With some of my Self Defense pistols, I've simply painted them black as some instructors advocate. [shrug]

Hay better than my sight being off center and a press fit where you cant move it.took a lathe vise to move mine

I had a white dot pop off of my rear sight of my Shield. I emailed S&W and they recommended to fill it with white model paint but said we will send you a new sight. I get the sight in the mail unfortunately they sent me a front site. I emailed them again and now they are sending me a new rear sight.

All my white dots fell out not long after I bought my Shield over a year ago. I don't get it. Is it really that hard to make paint stick in the hole? No big deal really, just an annoying issue that shouldn't happen. I have not filled mine in yet--thinking about using a different color.
