I just brought my Shield 9 home and found the magazines a nightmare to load. They must have the strongest springs I have ever encountered. Is there a loader made that works well on the single stack magazines of the Shield?
Thanks

Magula. One of the best investments and tool I ever bought. Universal. Will load .380 - .45s. I forget how much but I'm thinking $29...... It is a gotta have!

Mine were the same at first. Used the uplula load assist tool for a bit and now with about 300 rounds divided between the two mags they are a synch to load by hand.

Hmmm. I have six of the 7 rounders and four of the 8s. No are hard to load by hand. I agree the springs will break in a little. The uplula will work as well.

Well the mag springs are not any easier in the 40 cal Shield...Uplula took care of that

Alternative speed loaders

Does anyone know if either of these two, the HKS 941 or 943 will work with the 9mm Shield? Or maybe a different HKS model?

I am aware of uplulu but I don't want to buy them for several reasons so I'm looking to try one of these. HKS don't require a hard surface, they are cheaper, and made from American materials.

My Shield mags were a bit tight at first, but now they are no problem. I'd recommend you put a few hundred rounds thru the mags with the tight springs and see if they loosen up. I bet they will.

i'm well into my 60's with arthritis in my hands, and i found after a break in period, that they are just fine......When you first use them, you might want to place the magazine on a bench for added support, it does help.

Thanks to all who answered. Since it seems to be a consensus that after approx. 300 rounds the springs cease to be a problem, thus eliminating the need for assistance. And B, the HKS loader is about half the price of the uplula. I think I'll gamble on the HKS. I am grateful for the information from all of you. Remember, if I made the wrong decision - You tried to tell me!!

Please let me know how the HKS works out and which one you pick!

I went to 2 LGS today trying to find which model works. Only to discover that neither one does. The Shield magazine will not fit. One is too small front to back and the other is too small right to left. I went to the HKS website hoping to send an e-mail asking which model works, if any. There is no e-mail or phone number to reach them. Guess I'll look for another brand.

UPLULA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Game Over.

It will fit both double stack and single stack mags.

This is the best thing they ever invented right next to an Apex trigger for the Shield and Pmags for the AR.

One thing I do with every new magazine is to load them up and let them stay that way until the next range session. It allows them to take a set and takes away that new hard-to-load feeling. Double or semi-double stake mags are usually harder to load, minus rifle mags.

Best price I saw for Uplula was Butler Creek via Amazon. It was $27 a few months ago, but increased to $30 when I ordered an extra one a few weeks ago.
