Shield Plus grip texture chapping my hide

I am carrying my Shield Plus in a Kydex IWB holster from CYA Supply, and the left grip panel's aggressive texture is chewing on the skin over my right kidney. I am thinking of using some wet-or-dry 400 to knock off the roughest points. Guessing others have done something similar.

I always wear an under shirt, so not issues with the aggressive texture of the shield plus. Carried at 3-4 O'clock but now carry appendix. No issues in either spot.

That makes sense, although it is absolutely no fun at all to wear an undershirt down here in the desert with temps in the 90s and 100s.

Sand it down, or use grip tape.

I recommend Talon Grips’rubber decal grips. I’ve used them for a decade on all three of my Shields. They enhance your grip, are completely comfortable against your body, and last for years. All for about $20.

Not an uncommon procedure. I have sanded G-10 grips with success.

On my Shield .45 I opted for a Hogue Hand-All which has a lot less aggressive texture. However, I have read of people sanding down the texture a bit.

You can definitely knock off the points with some sandpaper and a sanding block. Just be patient...go slow and be careful to just take off the pointy tips of the grips. Good luck!
