shield plus trigger pin walks out when shooting

put 150 rounds thru the gun today and noticed the trigger pin was almost completely out of the housing. very disappointing that it was shipped that way from the factory. is there a fix?

I'm puzzled how that's even possible. The trigger pin has a cap on the left end and sets under the disassembly lever and as such can't walk out. Even with the disassembly lever open, it's still blocked. That lever has to be removed before the trigger pin can come out. Are you talking about the roll pin that secures the locking block?

As far as a fix, if it's the roll pin, you have several choices, drive it back in place and see what it does, replace the roll pin, or call S&W and tell them what's going on.

I know the pics are of my PC Shield .40, but my wife's OR Shield Plus is identical.

Ah, now that makes more sense. You're talking about the pin the trigger safety pivots on. This has been discussed here and elsewhere, so let me try and give you a couple fixes. You should be able to take a small punch and dimple each end to flare them just a little. After that, add a touch of clear nail polish or even a very small drop of glue to each end. That should fix it for you. If it continues to walk, or if you're concerned it may do this again, call S&W CS and explain what's going on. I doubt they'll send you a new trigger, but they should send you a return label so you can get it to them and they'll fix it. Hope that helps.

Another option since that appears to be a metal pin, is to take a punch and stake the polymer material on either side of the pin to tighten the hole up, then apply a small spot of glue as before.

Thanks Gunny! I called customer service and they are sending out a new pin and also new springs and followers for the mags.
