Shield rebate arrived

Mine came in Monday. It seems like it was about 8 weeks.

I got my $75 rebate today, 8-7-17. I submitted it on 5-16-17. Today Milano shows it is still pending. They also show two identical rebates submitted on the same day. This company really got in over its head. I hope S&W finds a new company to handle any future rebate programs. Personally, I dislike rebates. Just reduce the price at the point of purchase.

I agree completely. It's (largely) this absurd completion time they always take, that leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and severely minimizes their appeal, for me (though I did do a S&W rebate deal once before).
There's no possible way they are so short handed, or so bogged down with claims, that they need to take months to get you your friggin' rebate. This is either corporate incompetence, or just a complete lack of concern for their customers. Either way, they can keep their stupid rebates, and I hope they're reading this.

Rebates are theft.

Rebates are theft. The company that is issuing a rebate could more easily do it as an instant rebate at the store at the time of purchase. The dealer already has an account it can easily be refunded to them. No fuss no muss. So why not. Because the company that wants a mail in rebate is counting on a certain number of you to forget to send it in or lose it and don't want to go through the trouble to file for it.

The other most troubling aspect is to slow walk your rebate for one or two months. They keep your money for two months and don't pay any interest. I'd love to borrow several million dollars for two months at no interest. Let me tell you, they wouldn't loan you 75 dollars at no interest for two months.

So as far as I am concerned that is theft. I don't do mail in rebates. They just make me mad. Just like a lot of you. Why go through the stress and worry. It also makes me think less of the company that is willing to do this to me.

So you do it your way and I'll do it mine. And, Have a nice day.

I guess your way is just not to apply for the rebate or not buy the product which is fine with me.
In this case the rebate is lagniappe. Yes-it pushed me to buy the gun but the price alone was good to begin with-the rebate just made it a GREAT deal. I don't mind waiting. I forget about it and one day WOW! Found money!! Anyone who by now in this day and age hasn't figured out that 8-10 weeks really doesn't mean 8-10 weeks just hasn't been paying attention. Obsessing over stuff seems to have become a new internet pastime. It is a marketing ploy pure and simple. They moved a gread deal of product-plus i tells us just how much money these little buggers actually cost to produce as you know S&W ain't loosing money with this. The way I look at it is that I bought two great little pistols for a total of a little over $600. And sometime close to hunting season I'll get a chgeck out of the blue in the mail for $150 which I will use to buy a case of 2.75" #3 steel baby magnum shotgun shells for duck season.

Buy a ticket take the ride........or not. The decision is purely yours.

Has anyone received the newest Shield 45 rebate of magazines and ammo? If so, what capacity magazines are they sending out?

Submitted the shield rebate on 5/20, called today they said the check was cut on 7/31, but not made it to my hand as of yet.

My $75 rebate check arrived. I had pretty much forgot about it. Love my 9mm Shield.

God bless,

Rebate

Received my check today, almost three months to the day after I submitted it online.

They know what they are doing with mail-in rebates. It is a tried and true process. Bring people in with the promise of a cash rebate and then sit back and see how many lazy people actually submit the paperwork. No way will 100% of the people do it. I would, however, have been more excited to receive two free mags today than a check for $75.

Got my $75 today. Yippee. I sent it off May 31st. Took long enough. It was in a small nondescript white envelope. Don't throw it away.

Theft? Who is forcing you to buy? How is it theft, you will get your money. And, finally grumpy, how much is the interest on $350 for 2 or three months?

Don't be a whiner all your life. Just enjoy the guns.

Don't think they're getting fat off the "interest", Grumpy.... At today's rates, a month's interest on $75 probably won't pay the postage to mail your check.......

recd mine as well
approx. 90 days
a really oddball looking check, very small in a very unassuming envelope.
it has the appearance of junk mail, so be careful!
