not sure what you mean by "replace"...
do you want to add or remove a saftey?
I guess it doesn't really matter on the shield because in both cases the answer is no. They don't make thumb safety plugs for the shield. and in order to add a safety to a shield that didn't have one you would have to cut the frame. They didn't make the shields like the full sized models with the cut outs in the frame and plugs to fill them when not used. they just made two separate frames. my guess is that it has something to do with the fact that the sear pin sits directly under the safety lever and they didn't want to rely on a removable plastic plug to hold it in....just in case the plug fell out somehow, the sear pin could fall out and make the gun inoperable.
I know on my M&P9 FS you can see what looks like cutouts but they're not removable unless you cut them out.
I was talking about removing the safety. I know on the full size models the safety can be removed and a plug placed in the frame to fill the hole.

There's a video on how to disable the safety and leave the lever in the hole so that you don't have that void. I'd suggest looking at that video. I can't figure out why you want to remove it because it's not like it is just going to flip on or off. It takes some force.
+1. I've never had the safety accidentally get turned on in a Shield, and it's my EDC. But it is easy to use, if you want to. Wife always uses it on hers. Well designed safety, IMO.I'd personally just carry it with the safety off. The lever is so low profile on the shield with a nice positive click, I personally can't think of a situation where it would get in my way and never had any issues when I did carry it.
