I just installed a hogue on my shield. I have to say, what CB3 says is likely sound advise. Would have been nice to read that last week.

Put a drop of super glue under the Hogue, on the backstrap and the front, and it won't move again. ;)

I completely concur with the remarks by KELSW.

In addition, I find the overall feel of the Talons to enable my hands to better control my Shield after recoil than the Hogues.

I have the Talon grips on all my other pistols and the AR. I actually took them off the Shield to try the Hogue grip.

I like the Talon's nice traction, and nice feel. I follow the directions, clean it well, heat them with the heat gun afterwards while applying some pressure, and thousands of rounds (and in the case of my Shield, EDC IWB for the last 4 months) and they look the same as the day I put them on.

As an old Mountain Biker, the trick I learned for installing tight grips and keeping them in place on the handlebars, over rough terrain was....hair spray.

By spraying the inside of the grip at installation, the hair spray acts as a lubricant for sliding it on. Once it dries, it acts as a semi-permanent glue. The beauty is, a little water or extra pressure will break the hair spray hold, making the grip removable. Super glue is way too permanent for my tastes.

That being said, I use the Talon. I love it. It has worked flawlessly and the newer version does not have the seam on the backstrap...so, no peeling.

There is no need for any type of glue, I rubbed a bit of CLP inside the hogues grip and it slide it in very easily. I carry my gun every day, and shoot once or twice a month and it has remained in place.

Talon works for me, no problems with it since day one. I just wish my shooting problems were so easily solved!

Have a blessed day,

Leon

I got a new Shield and thought I'd get some grips. I usually get the rubberized. So I ordered some ,I thought. I guess I screwed up and ordered the Sandpaper grips by mistake. I thought well maybe as long as I have them I'll give them a try. Frankly I love them. Your hands could be soaking wet and your grip is still tight. But the one draw back I found is when you CC under a shirt with no undershirt beneath . Ouch very rough on your skin when you walk or bend. So I took a sock and cut a piece of the elastic tube off slipped over the grip and problem solved.

Have Talons on both Shields.....meh.....still slippery when even a little sweaty.....have AGRIP coming today, will put on 1 of my Shields and report back.

I recently put Hogues on my 9mm Shield and I wished I had done it a long time ago - ade all the difference in the world. They are tight as if they grew on the pistol and not only give a good grip - added just enough to the slim grip of the Shield. My pull up and getting a quick sight picture has greatly improved.

I've tried the Pachmayr grips and liked how the squishy feel of the grip. The only problem i didn't like was grip would move around. I recently changed to the Hogue beavertail grip. So far everything stays in place. I brought the grip specific for each model. The grip for the 9 says it will fit the 45. Good luck with that. The 9 version was a little stubborn to get on. Heated up the grip and tried the Windex trick for lube. The 45 was a whole other animal. After alot of cussing it finally went on. Great addition for the Shield.

Did not like the AGRIP at all, no tackiness at all....shot it this morning, cut it off after 20 rds. Stretched a piece of innertube over and its much better

I hope 2.0 has a slight Glock hump, it helps, at least for me, to automatically push my hand high on the grip with no adjusting.

Bicycle Inner Tube

That's what I have found to work the best for me. Inexpensive too. YouTube has some videos on this if interested.

installed the hogue beavertail on my shield the other day and really like it....tried the windex method but no way was it going on..put it in some boiling water and it went right on..it seems to be very tight!!!

windex didn't do the trick, I rubbed a bit of clp and it went at once, didn't wanted to heating it up afraid of stretching it. Love it so much that ordered one for my G42 and Shield 45.
