Shield: Talon Grip or Hogue HandAll It.

Only had my shield about 4 weeks , but installed Talon grips , absolutely awesome , for $2 more , i suggest you get the extended mag grip as well , this eliminates the problem with the extended round magazine extra piece ridding up the magazine ..

What extended mag grip did you get?

Also eliminates being able to disassemble the mags. I ended up cutting them so I can disassemble the mags, but now they can ride up again.

Funny that you mention that. I went to the extra expense for the kit with the pieces for 2 extended (8 rnd.) mags, so that I could eliminate the issue with the "filler" piece.

As I was finishing the first one up with the hair dryer, and seeing how good it looked, it dawned on me that the mags then couldn't be disassembled without cutting it.

I still have the second one in the package.

Remove The Finger Bumps

In response to slippage as I said they were very hard to put on I don't think slippage would be an issue. What bugged me the most was the finger bumps on the grip.

I just took my Dremel to the finger bump. Didn't like it at all.
While on the Dremel kick, I removed the "finger hook" on the
front of the trigger guard with a Dremel too. I never use a grip
requiring that hook and prefer the looks of a round trigger guard.

Received my Talon grips today and put them on. They are perfect for my needs. It still has a good grip but my skin isn't getting tore up wearing it.

I've tried the Pachmayr grips and liked how the squishy feel of the grip. The only problem i didn't like was grip would move around. I recently changed to the Hogue beavertail grip. So far everything stays in place. I brought the grip specific for each model. The grip for the 9 says it will fit the 45. Good luck with that. The 9 version was a little stubborn to get on. Heated up the grip and tried the Windex trick for lube. The 45 was a whole other animal. After alot of cussing it finally went on. Great addition for the Shield.

I also had Pachmayr grips and they started to slid down over time which stops you from inserting a magazine, so I took them off. But, I don't like the stock grip at all. I am considering Hogue, Talon, or stippling.

Just ordered a Hogue beavertail for my Shield .45.
Talons are great, but wouldn't do me any good, as I like the factory texture, but am looking for added thickness.
If I don't like it, I'll stay factory, with a $10 lesson learned.

I have Hogues beaver tail on my S9 and G42 absolutely love it, it ads some extra thickness that allows me keep the gun in control all the time, the rubber texture is nice and smooth. Ordered one for my S45 too.
