Hello,
I just picked up last night a LE model Shield 2.0 with 3 mags and night sights. The serial number starts "HYY****", how can I tell when it was manufactured? Also, is it "Older Production", or Current Production?
Thanks,

Thank you, I found it making mine 10/18/2017. Were there any changes made to the Shield in 2018 that I should be aware of?

I bought 2 Shields in 2018: a 1.0 and a 2.0. Search the net for differences, there are several. However, the main difference I've noticed is in the trigger. The 2.0 has a much lighter pull and better reset.....until I installed an Apex sear in the 1.0. The Apex sear really lightened the trigger pull and improved reset of my 1.0.

Mine is a v2.0 but made 10/18/2017, which was first production. I am interested if any changes were made to the v2.0 line in 2018.

I guess I had a different understanding about what "new/old stock" meant. I thought that applied to an unpurchased pistol where the version of that pistol is no longer available and a newer or upgraded version has superseded it - as opposed to just being based on shelf life at the store for a current production pistol.

Am I off base with that?

Sorry, wrong terms for "Early Production". One that has been sitting on someone's shelf for an extended period of time.

The 2.0 are Current Production. Not NOS.

NOS typically applies to parts or unit's no longer in production.

You should contact S&W to see if there were any production changes.

Yes, sorry, I should have said, "Early Production". I sent them an email. Man this is a sweet little pistol, the texturing is just right for me and I have always liked the feel in my hand of the M&P line. Plus M&P night sights have just the right amount of low profile to ease of one handed manipulation.

I checked with Smith and they said no changes have been made since mine was produced. This little pistol just feels so darn good in the hand. The texture is just right for my needs. The more I handle it the less it feels overly textured.
