shields

I got both the .40 and the 9mm. Why is everyone having such a hard time finding them, lol.

OK, Smitty, stick em up and give me those Shields!

LoL man if one of em leave first. I can guarantee you the 9mm will be the first to go. I prefer my .40 because of the barrel swap to 9mm.

I thought I had read every Shield post, where did you see that the .40 can be interchanged with the 9mm barrel and mag? I have both, but I never read that you could swap the barrels and mags. If you are right this would be the first gun that I know of that doesn't require a conversation kit. Glock does it but you have to buy the conversation kit, like Glock 23 .40 to .357, It actually cheaper to buy both, seeing the kit is $ 400.00.

The LGS that I frequent just got a number of 9mm Shields in stock. They said they've sold a number already but still have several left. When you click on the pic of the Shield on their homepage is just takes you to their weekly flyer...no shields in the ad. You will have to call. I bought my Shield through them a couple of months ago...totally dig it! Good luck!

RussC, It's been about a year since your post. I recently purchased the M&P Shield 9mm. Not sure you've been following the other post on the problems with FTE's on these. I'm wondering IF the first run of production have the same as the latest or not. IF they are trying to push as many as they can to keep up with demand and failing with QC, then they are going to end up with a "worst gun of the year". Anyone else here have any FTE's with it? I've had several consecutive and my first one with in the first 30 rounds, and many more within 150 rounds. Even the armorer at the range had 3 back to back. Now, my buddy that bought the same gun, same time, same stack has no issues to date.

I just purchased a Shield 9 last night and I paid full MSRP. I had a chance to buy a 40 last week, at a good price but I was determined to find a 9 (my first). My only other centerfire is a 38 Special model 36 and I hope this nine won't have more recoil than that. I plan to take to the range this weekend for the first time. My local range requires "total metal jacket" not just full metal jacket. More profit for the range as I can't find any TMJ anywhere so I'll have to buy it from the range. Can't wait shoot this thing though.

I bought a 40 for me & a 9 shield for my wife this week. Got really lucky and found them at two different small gun shops. The bigger shops had really long waiting lists so I snatched them up. Haven't shot them yet but will tomorrow. I think my wife is more excited than I am because she bought 300 rounds of 9mm from Walmart yesterday.:D:cool:
