shieldsteria...

OP must be a Kahr PM9 owner. I can see why their panties are twisted. S&W came out with a better gun with a better trigger with an extra round capacity that is just slightly bigger for $250 less.

I happen to be a long time and extremely satisfied owner of a PM9. My tightie whities fit quite nicely without bunching or twisting, thank you:). I also have a set of his and hers Shields. The Shield a better gun than the PM9? Subjective at best. Depends on who you ask. Answer is strictly opinion. Shield trigger bettter than the PM9 trigger? Again, subjective. Although it is indeed quite long, I personally prefer the smooth trigger of my PM9 to the gritty trigger of my Shield, which will be remedied by the addition of parts obtained from Apex Tactical as were the triggers of my 9C and 45C. One extra round capacity while just slightly bigger and for less money? No doubt.

Both great pistols. Quality, reliability and performance. Although I have several to choose from, the PM9 has been my favorite carry pistol for many years. Will it be replaced by the Shield? Absolutely not. Will it have to move over to make room for the NKOTB? Absolutely. I welcome the addition.

Like others previously posted, just my opinion. And I agree with the OP regarding the Shield having pretty much taken over the M&P section of the forum. However, I like it. I very much enjoy reading others experiences and opinions, good or bad, of this new pistol. Some of the insight I've gained has been very valuable.

As a former owner of several Kahrs, including the PM9, as well as a current owner of the LC9 and my new Shield, I'll choose the Shield over the other two any time. As MIST said above, it's a strictly subjective thing, as most likes and dislikes are. However, I prefer the Shield for several reasons; size, feel, accuracy and reliability are the foremost.

I've been a Glock guy for 20 years. I've owned most of the models and have carried them in both on and off-duty modes. Until now, I have seen nothing in the market that has come close to a Glock in all areas of concern (at least for me). I have recently been converted to the M&Ps. I first purchased a 45c, then a 40 FS, now the Shield. The Shield is an example of what Glock should have done long ago, if they listened to their customers.

While the Kahrs are great guns, and the Ruger LC9 was a good effort on their part, I find the Shield to be just what I've hoped for for a long time. S&W has definitely become more aware and responsive to the market. I think you'll see a lot more law enforcement agencies changing over from Glocks in the not-to-distant future.

I had a PM9 and I thought the trigger was horrible. I don't mind some DAO triggers but I didn't like the one on my PM9 one bit. While it was a good quality gun it wasn't the quality I expected when buying a polymer DAO gun, it could have been much better. The stock trigger on my shield isn't gritty at all though it's just heavy with more creep than I'd like.

I too will be putting APEX parts in my shield once I figure out what to order but in stock form the trigger is better than the PM9 because I can actually stand it. It can, and will be better though. The XD remains the ultimate factory trigger in a polymer gun if you as me with glock being a close second.

LMAO!!! :D

Or how about a Shield and an M1 Abrams Tank? :p
I thought the same thing too, but I was told there are different sizes of the Desert Storm. I don't know if a compact is out and that it what the poster wanted to see a comparison of.

he he .. my guy at ATEi installed his sear, trigger work within hours of my purchase 4/13/12 Friday 13 turned out to be a lucky day for me :D I don't have to worry about what Apex to order. I have a lovely 4 lb trigger that is butter smooth.

I'm a revolver guy and bought a shield and love it. It's excellent for carry.

What I don't get is all the complaining because people are excited about a gun. Seems rather silly, or envy.
Have you even been able to see and hold one (as I have) they are great just like their older siblings and I want a 40 but there are none to be found. I am waiting for those to come out and then will have one to stick somewhere in by vehicle!

I am not expecting to be able to get one anytime soon but I have plenty of other M&P's so I think I will survive without one anytime in the near future~

I prefer the full size 45 M&P and full size 9 for ccw and home defense.Using Comp-Tacs Infidal iwb holster a t shirt conceals them quite nicely.I just prefer full size pistols and don't find them hard to carry.I mainly carry the 45 every day.

I bought an LC9 because it was really the only cost effective and reliable full caliber pocket gun available at the time. I know S&W doesn't recommend the Shield as a pocket carry but when I had my hands on one it seemed just as carryable as my LC9. If the LC9 had the M&P trigger, or even the Bodyguard 380 trigger I wouldn't be wavering on the cusp of selling it and getting a Shield.

Can't help it...Compared to PPQ and SR22P

It's the pricepoint for what you're getting. S&W totally got it right and my LGS at $375 got it right beyond that.

What's this tattoo everyone is talking about? I've been staring at those pics for hours now and still haven't seen a tattoo...

Yes the Shieldstreia has bitten me as well. It is now my secondary carry when I have to wear a tucked shirt.

Range testing and defense ammo testing has gone well.

Next is different sights.

Shield with an bar of Dove soap. (yes I know it's Mac not-mouse)

Shield with a cheap green lighter.

Shield with a tattoo.

Shield with a door knob.

Now this is some helpful comparisons (BTW...Nice tat!!)

After SEVERAL minutes carefully examining the Shield/Tattoo comparison, I noticed that there was a holster in the picture. What is this holster?

It's a swan you idiots!!!!! I have an eye for detail. It also appears that there is a light green/aqua coloured undergarmet there also. :D There's also a big rock and a wedding ring on the finger as well :(

Nope your wrong, I don't own anything but s&w's, and a ruger p90.

I never said the gun wasn't a good gun, I was just voicing my opinion that all I see is shield this, shield that around here.. its like its took over the forum LOL..
That's all..

What I don't understand is those voicing opinions without even holding/firing the Shield .. against those who do own the Shield. The reason it's *taken over the forum* is because no one expected this gun to be THAT GOOD ! :D

Ya'll being a bit closed minded without even knowing what ya don't even know. Just sayin'
