A LGS has a nickel 10-5 snub that is supposed to be in very good shape. I talked to a salesman on the phone and he said it was "very nice" . . . but everyone's interpretation is different and I know it's hard to put a value on something that you can't see.

They have $370.00 on it (I know from past dealings they don't dicker). From what I've seen in our area on M & Ps and 10s - the price seems to be about right but everything I've seen in that range have been 4,, 5 and 6 inch barrels, not snubs. I have a 5" M & P, a 6" M & P Target and a CM that I really love - all great shooters. I carry a Model 36 Snub and also have a 36 3". I'm thinking about the 10-5 for a carry "switch off" once in a while plus I don't have a K frame snub - and it would be my first "shiny" one. (Which seems like a good excuse to buy it. :-) )

So my question . . . when I go to take a look at it, if it turns out that it is in VG condition with minimal wear . . is the price in line or too high? If I go with it . . it will be a "shooter" and be used so minimal wear is not really a concern as long as it is mechanically OK, locks up tight, etc. I just don't want to "over pay" if it isn't worth what they are asking. Thanks.

Forgot to state - no box/papers, etc. with the pistol. Supposed to have original grips on it from what the salesman said when I talked with him.

I keep preaching on this site, where are you going to find a sub 400 dollar SW revolver regardless of model or finish. The market has changed. If it is in very good shape I would buy it. Not many nickels out there in good shape and if it is a legit nickel/snub and has not been cut down go for it.

I'd be all over that gun at that price. The motivating factor to me is that it's nickel. . .just a bit harder to find. I paid more than that for a blue 10-5 six months ago. It was 99% with no box or tools. It was a snub. I paid in the $450 range if I remember correctly.

I would agree with the previous comments. If the nickel is original and the gun is as nice as indicated, the price is great. I let an identical one (with the Detroit Police stamp) pass by last month at about 900 only because I had just committed to buying another gun.

I'd offer them 369.00 and feel like i won that negotiation.

I was about to say that you're bending over and grabbing your ankles for that price.

THEN, I noticed that you said it is a snub, and nicke.
I'd be all over it for that price.
I love mine.
