I'm old school. For ship ammo, I prefer 5-inch proximity fused. 
No just any UPS office will ship ammo. Check with the location you want to use in advance.

This is correct.
You cannot ship ammo through a UPS Store or Staples shipping outlet. They are only are contracted franchise operations and UPS will not allow them to accept DOT regulated materials, because once the package is in UPS's system, then UPS is legally responsible for ensuring it is properly packaged and marked. They cannot control the actions or training of people working at a franchise location.
You have to go to a UPS Customer Service Center located in an actual UPS-owned package processing facility. UPS has control over the training and actions of their own employees, so they can make sure that the ammo is properly packaged and labeled according to the DOT regulations.

Umm - this has been discussed in other threads - UPS has closed all of their Customer Service Centers to the public.
Shipping is easy, with the proper equipment.
Accepting delivery is a whole other thing.

I’d like to reduce my horde of ammo, components, handguns and rifles.
It’s becoming frustrating dealing with the shipping complications.
Been trying to move items via our gun club’s bulletin board. Apparently a soft market as little of mine or anybody else’s seems to be moving.

This page on their website seems to indicate that at least SOME Customer Service Canters are still open. Maybe they closed SOME of them?

While probably not a significant concern on this board, how does one legally ship live, large caliber ammunition such as popular 20mm, 25mm, and similar small cannon rounds? Specifically standard AP or solid shot and not HE or similar.
Either as collector pieces or small lots.

I sold a decent quantity of ammo in the 15-20 years prior to COVID. From what I can see, nothing much has changed with the current regs from when I was selling, aside from no more Customer Centers. Set up a new account (rather easy), grab a new box, pack your boxes of ammo in that box so they don’t move around, apply the “Limited Quantity” symbol, input all relevant info into either the app or website, print out a label and schedule a pickup at your home. All those steps, aside from scheduling a pickup, had to be accomplished when I was selling. One step is actuallly eliminated… having to make the hour round trip run to the CC.
Everything larger than 50 cal is a type 1 explosive, not small arms ammo, so you must be hazmat certified to ship it. You are not, or you wouldn’t be asking, so your best bet is to reach out to the usual auction houses and see if any of them are equipped to deal with these items.
