Just won an auction for a mint pre-model 12, 2” bbl, alloy cylinder, flat latch, rd bt, blue, SN: C318532

Any help with dating will be greatly appreciated!

About as close as I can get is that it likely shipped sometime in 1955. I don't have any C-series SN listings that close to yours to get any closer.

That's a nice looking revolver. Have you checked the cylinder with a magnet? You do know that S&W recalled those with the aluminum cylinder as they aren't safe with standard .38 special ammo.
