SHIPPING A HANDGUN

A recent purchased new S&W Model 442-2 came with an issue (cylinder locking up). Last week I contacted S&W Customer Support and was advised to fire it and determine if the issue was still present. It Was. I contacted S&W Customer Support this A.M. and was Emailed a return label.
I took the weapon and return label to Fed-X. The clerk looked at the return label, taped the box up, applied the return label, gave me a receipt and I was out the door within five minutes.

UPDATE:
Fed-X delivered my before mentioned S&W Model 442 just now.
The enclosed worked order stated that the Extrator and Extractor Rod was repaired.
Revolver workeds great.

I received a S&W return label for recall work on a 639. Took the box to FedEx and said "I am supposed to tell you this is a firearm." Female clerk said "I know. I recognize the address." Pistol was back to me in about 10 days.

I've shipped a couple of guns back to the factory via a supplied shipping label. One of the clerks mentioned that they all know the address by heart.

My understanding is that the guns have to be brought to a depot, not just any drop off location. At least that is how I've always done it.

I miss the days when I could just bring it to the guard shack.

I took a new M66 to FedEx with the shipping label. No problems, but I noticed a sign on the gate when I drove into the parking lot with the packaged revolver on the seat next to me. It said that no firearms were allowed on FedEx property! Oh Well.

I had to ship my M&P back after the optics screws sheared off. When fedex delivered it back to me and I had to sign for it, the fedex guy smiled and said, “I hope they fixed it for you”.
