Well just shipped my first rifle to California. I sold a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 Glock mag 9mm to a nice guy in Bakersfield Ca.He sent all the necessary compliant stuff such as bullet button (wich is the stupidist thing ive ever done to a rifle before) and a stock extension. The buyer drop shipped these to me so i put them on with no problems. I am not an FFL dealer just an individual Thru gunbrooker. Gun had 10 rounds thru it and i just didnt like it. Well payment was recived and it went to his FFL of choosing. All recipts manuals extra parts sent in orginal Kel-Tec Box thru usps Insured with tracking number. Made it fine gun intact no problems at all with the Us Mail. well the dealer opens it and complains that I donot have the correct paper work ie..california shipping authorization number and My FFL paper. Well im an individual and do not need a single one of those i explain. Then he askes how did you perform those california complaint upgrades and able to ship a new gun (gun was used)with out being a dealer. I said how long have you been a dealer for he says Late 09 i said maybe you need to read your own gun laws. Long story short he let the buyer pick it up......

And people on here, and elsewhere, complain about people who just will NOT ship to Cali.

I won't. I don't care what the circumstance.

I can't be bothered with any extra steps in the process. If I just can't send a gun without extra paperwork or rendering the DA useless, why bother?

I traded a gun to a LEO in California. The gun was California legal, but to be on the safe side, he wanted through a FFL. My FFL shipped it for $71 plus his $25 FFL, and when the dealer in California received it, he found that it didn't have the authorization number. My dealer had overlooked that requirement and had to jump through hoops to work out the problems (that's what that $25 fee is for!). Had I sent the gun as an individual, there wouldn't have been a problem, and it probably would have cost me less. If this hadn't been a trade for a gun I wanted, I doubt that I would have put up with this nonsense. No offense to the Forum members from California, but it'll be a cold day before I do another sale/trade with anyone from that state.

California shipping is not a big deal.
It's only a matter of knowing the procedure. Kind of like knowing how to load and operate a gun. :D
It does add almost 3 minutes to the procedure of packing and shipping. It takes me longer to print the mailing label online. An athletic genius that could click a mouse really fast and that owned a really fast printer could probably do it well below 2 minutes.

The first post is more to do with an FFL that doesn't know his business. Of course, the Bullet Button seems stupid, but it was a neat idea to get around the California AW ban.

I agree completely. Friend with gun store had more hassles then it became worth. Too many hoops and BS when there are 49 other states.

That is exactly the intended purposes of the laws. I don't know a single pawn shop now that sells handguns out here. And only one with rifles. The laws are designed to be cumbersome and easy to mess up so they can then throw you in jail.

I know, two year old thread, but........

The sentiments laid out in this thread are just what the anti-gunners here were hoping for. To make it difficult not only for those of us here in Ca. to own and use firearms, but to enforce their will on those outside the state wishing to do business with us. We're doing the best we can as citizens from behind the curtain, and I really appreciate those in the free states who will put a little effort into helping us here in California defy the will of the commies here. The rest of you are only helping the anti gun folks push forth their agenda, and assisting them win victory after victory over liberty.
