Shocked and Speechless at Disrepect

Flag etiquette, for those who weren't in the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts 4-H, perhaps some American Legion sponsored youth group, is an unknown subject. At a Memorial Day parade on May 30 I had to correct a fire department, they had their flags reversed, in the same town one house flies the National Flag and a Marine Corps flag-reversed.

Disrespect

My outlook, on current society's disrespect for laws, traditions, and self-respect, is bleak,

Complacency, and lack of responsibility, seem to be today's morality norm.

Let's hope and pray that today's standards improve.

I, much, prefer the morals, and standards, of the "good old days", and would like for them to be in use again.

My American Legion Post has a box outside for people that has torn/stained/ripped American Flags to drop in for proper disposal by the Post.

Checking the box I discovered a new folded casket Flag that is given to a deceased Veteran's next of kin at funerals.

Someone who was custodian of this Flag dumped it off ??

I will place it in a place of Honor in the Post in memory of an unknown Veteran who served His/Her Country.

I think your idea is good but since you have no way of knowing why they dropped off that flag maybe we should give them the benefit of the doubt.

Isn't that why you have a box, for people to dispose of their flags….it doesn't really matter what the reason is, unless you have a sign that says 'worn, soiled, tattered flags only'. How does that saying go, a solution looking for a problem, this is a complaint looking for something to complain about……sigh.
