Went to my local Dicks sporting goods store to
get some ammo this morning and was surprised to see all the guns and ammo removed from display. Signs were posted
stating all guns and ammo will not be sold until further notice.
I didn't feel comfortable asking some one, tried searching the internet to no avail, first time that ever happened.
Store is located in Hamilton twp. Atl. co. NJ
Anyone know anything about this ?

No but I don't consider Dicks a gun or ammo store. The don't carry any firearms i like, just some lever guns and bolt action rifles which are the wrong hand. Same with ammo. If I have a need for ammo I can wait to go to my LGS and get more options and amount

All I can find are references back to 2012 when they pulled stuff off the shelves because of Newtown.

Go online and find the feedback section and ding them. These places are listening. I just got a reply from Sportsmans Guide because I dinged them last night for having a crappy selection of left handed holsters.

My guess is that it's about cost cutting / cutting staff.

My local Dick's theoretically sold long guns and ammo, but there was never anyone behind that counter.

(Last year, Dick's fired hundreds of PGA golf instructors, because sales in that department were down.)

Grand opening scheduled for April 15
I know they have a huge firearms dept
I saw a line about 40 feet long of pallets
just with ammo. to me anyway it is just as much an attraction as a store.
and an indoor range too !

I have no clue how they stay in business. They suck. Probably a mob front, no other explanation.
Baseball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, running, cross training, golfing, biking, weight lifting, weight loss, running shoes, camping, fishing, sports related clothing, dumbbells, ellipticals, treadmills, kayaking. Yea I wonder how they stay afloat without the 3 lever guns they sell.

In fact I wonder why they even bother selling firearms at all. The options are severely limited. A few pump shotguns, a few bolt guns and a few lever guns. What's the point? No one is ever in that section anyway

Is a place like that going to be Pa or NY friendly?
I go to AC time to time. I have had only one experience with A NJ gun shop and they refused to even let me hold a gun because i was a Pa resident. It was down around the Cape May area. I do not know the rules for NJ selling out of state. But i would of thought shipping a firearm to Pa was a option.

We have a Dick's about a 1/2 hr drive from here, been by it several times but never stopped in until last week, someone gave a friend of mine a gift cert for fifty bucks, he went in and didn't see anything he wanted, so he gave it to me. Last week my wife wanted to go to the Mall, so on the way home we stopped at Dick's, the hunting and fishing dept is small, they did have several gun's in the rack, i didn't stop and look at anything, I walked around the store a few times and ended up buying a light weight jacket for fishing, I don't think I will ever go back.

I went by mine yesterday (on a usual route, proper side of the road, nothing lost to stop). No difference at the gun counter EXCEPT that they had about 50 buckets of Rem Golden Bullet. Price was $76 after tax. Clerk I know said it was the first .22 in the store this year.

It could just be the Store doesnt sell enough to make it worth the trouble to stock Them.
Our local Walmart doesnt sell Guns but it does sell Ammo,If I go to the Super Walmart in the next City They sell Long Guns and Shot Guns and Ammo and even have a Person at the Counter because They sell better there. So it just may be a matter of economics for Dick's.

The Dicks in Selinsgrove PA, not far from me, has a pretty good selection of long guns and ammo. I think it may be more of a regional thing. I was in it a few weeks ago, and they had bricks of 555 Winchester .22's for $27.00 a brick. I am pretty good with .22's, but for that price, I bought 3. They are $60 or more, on line, when you can find them. I have seen very little .22 for less than 10 cents a round, unless it is in a big box store.

Guess I'm gonna' have to hit my local store on the way home. If they have 22 in either of those flavors at that price I'll pick some up - even though I have a good stash, you never know it may never get readily available again...

We usually go down twice a year, depending on whether we can get cheap rooms or not. :D Bally's, Harrahs, or Caesars.
We do a bit of slots, visit the outlet stores(Eddie Bauer for me), Kerbecks Chevy, then go to Carmine's

for dinner.
Ever been to Carmines? Best only order one meal for two people, the portions are crazy big.
Next time down, I'll stop in.
