Nice one

Hi W4,
That is all I have is shooters. Bless the collectors, but if I can't shoot it I don't need it.
That looks like a nice one to me.
Thanks
Mike

That's a nice looking gun, one you can be proud of and have lots of fun shooting. I'd like to find on like that with either a 3 1/2 or 4 inch barrel, but they seem to be commanding pretty high prices these days. Nice find.

Enjoy that gun! I have a 4" 27-2 also and it is my go to revolver for most shooting. Mine loves 158 LSWC with 6.5gr. Unique and on occasion a full charge of 2400 which really brings out the grins.

No such thing as a shooter "grade" 27-2. :) Shooter or safe queen, they are all the top of the line N frames and among the finest shooting tools S&W has ever made.

A 5" 27-2 is my all time favorite S&W handgun. If this is your first 27 I believe you'll soon agree...:D

Agree with TDC. No better wheelgun made period. I like your
4" 27. I have a 5" and a 3 1/2" and they will not be leaving me.
Gotta love those N-Frames. Congratulations my friend.

If you want a red insert, you can have one done. It is a simple process of cutting a dovetail in the blade and filling it with material made for just that. Any good gunsmith can do this, or if you are handy, there are fairly inexpensive kits from firms like Brownell's that contain all the material and tools needed, and you can do it yourself.

I would guess there are videos of it on youtube; there seems to be videos of everything except washing your dog on youtube.

Nice sixgun there, by the way.

Thanks all. I took it to the range today, and no surprises. It shoots like a dream. I tried several factory loads and it seems to like Remington 125 gr. SJHP (Wal-Mart) the best. 2" groups at 10 yards. That's pretty good for me. The Cor-Bon 200 gr. HC shoots a little high, but that's what adjustable sights are for. Shooting Winchester 125 gr. +P was like shooting a .22. For those who are interested, I paid just a hair North of $400 for it. I'm a happy guy.

Great gun and price. I like the soul of the wood on it. Congratulations!!!!

My 27-2 is the finest firearm I have ever handled. 5' barrel. Would love to get a 3.5 incher to go along with her.

My shooter grade 27-2 with a 3.5 " barrel is one of my most beloved N frame shooters, for many reasons. I'm fairly certain that you will enjoy this gun immensely. Please keep us posted regarding it's performance.

Retired, very nice 27!! I am not into safe queens at all! I buy something to shoot, and that is what I do! You did great on the purchase amount too. I bought a 28 no dash on GB in Dec. for $450. It is a 6 incher, and very clean. Of course it is more accurate than me. Going to to shoot it today! Bob

That beauty is just like mine. Model 27-2, 3.5" barrel in nickle. It has been shot and is continuing to be shot. It is a joy to shoot and when I really clean it up, it goes in my Bar-B-Q, Tio Myres Jockstrap holster on a matching belt made by our own Su Amigo, Dave.

These guns are just like my Randall knives. Use them or get rid of them. At age 72, who am I going to leave them to. I have a friend who has several Model 27's and a few Randalls, none of which have been shot or cut with. He is approaching 80.

I would hate to go to my grave having never shot a Model 27 or cut a steak with a Randall knife!
