Shooter Grade 27-2

All guns are shooter's grade until they look like this:

Hi W4,
That is all I have is shooters. Bless the collectors, but if I can't shoot it I don't need it.
That looks like a nice one to me.
Thanks
Mike

My thoughts exactly! Will have some safe queens coming up for sale in the future as I just don't shoot em. They are all lonely in the safe.

CWO. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thats a fine looking 27 you have there and it was meant for shooting! Hope you get 30k rounds through it as they are one beefed up .357.

Just a hair North of $400? How's about I give you your money back for
it and you can look for one with a RR and WO? You call it shooter
grade but by the looks of that very light cyl ring it hasn't been shot
very much. I have 27s with and without the RR and WO and I actually
prefer them without. The plain sights give a more consistant sight
picture to me and for hunting in the woods I just put a bit of white
paint on the front ramp. I have my own theory about "shooter grade
27s". Previous owners may have not given them the best of care but
they are still the top of the line S&W revolvers and once they belong
to me they get treated just as gently as my best condition 27s.

No magic in the Red Ramp. Easy to put model paint on with a small brush. It might have to be renewed occasionally. Easy to change color if you want.
Bought my 5" 27-2 new in 1978.

That one looks pretty nice to me. You got a heck of a deal.
I only have one M27 (so far) and it is also a 4" M27-2. I bought it at a gun show about 13 years ago and paid $400 for it OTD. No box, but I'd estimate it as a 99% gun. I never knew, until I joined the Forum, how scarce the 4" ones are. They only made them for a few years. I've heard they're worth nearly a Grand these days.

Mine ain't goin' nowhere while I'm still breathin'.:D

Gerry, those two are gorgeous. Here is the one I mentioned last night, with RR/WO. I have it sporting Ahrends. It resides in the top drawer in the office. If it were not for the bolt stop notch you would see my face on the cylinder. A few more freckles and a little more holster wear.

That one's no good. It has a turn line.
Better send it to me.
I'm such a good person, it hurts.

I'd brag about both of those N frames, if I had them.
I have 2 Js, 2 Ks, 1 L, and 0 Ns.
I need to get at least one more L and 2 Ns.

I always smile at the term 'shooter'.

I buy mine to shoot. No safe queens. I don't own a big ole bunch of guns but the ones I have all get shot. And my .357s get shot a-lot.

You've got a fine piece there.

Yep, they are all shooters, or at least start out that way. It depends on what the owner does with them. I have, or had old S&W's that were purported to be unfired outside the factory and what do I do? Take them out and shoot them. I don't have a huge collection but I have enough that I don't always have enough time to exercise them all. "Shooter Grade" is just that, a grade, or condition that we can use to describe one,

My .357's get more action than any others I own too. My favorite!

It's hard to beat a 27-2 3.5 inch so congratulations on yours as mine looks new but it has a name engraved under the grips.

Ah, heck. I'll go ahead and ask.

What is "RR" and "WO"?

:o
