My game is "redneck bowling". We get old used bowling pins from the local bowling alley, set them up just like at the lanes at about 75 yards, 2 shots is what you get to get a strike, 3 shots total for a spare. Scores just like the real game. First to 300 wins. Fair warning, this can be an all day game.

May I ask, what is tannerite?

Its a binary explosive material. This means it is created by combining two totally inert chemical compounds. They are safe and legal to ship separately. Once combined it is poured into a container, can be water bottles, cans, smokeless tobacco containers, etc. When shot with a high velocity projectile you get a nice BOOM! I go to machine gun shoots occasionally and it is a common target of opportunity. Makes for a very pleasing addition to the already pleasurable atmosphere!

NOTE: 22lr won't detonate it, but I believe .22 mag and up will.

Try it, you WILL like it! Also, I believe if you check out You Tube you can find a video or two.........

i get the pins, and just try to damage them. those things are indestructible. a week ago i had one out, and was wailing on it with 7.62x54 steel core rounds and barely made a dent, and i didn't stop once it fell, i kept tagging it on the ground making it spin and go all over the place. in the end it had some dents and bulges, and i actually found an intact round sticking out. those things take some serious abuse.

A sheet of plywood, a bucket of paint balls, and a tube of liquid nails makes a fun target for any firearm. Put some glue on the board in long straight lines and start sticking paint balls on it. You can bust out the shotgun and some bird shot to finish up the ones you missed.

one of our favs, we took a 1x6 laid it flat and nailed small trim nails in one side every 5". hold the 1x up with a saw horse on each end and han those old time safety pop suckers with the loop stick in them from the nails. We shoot at them from all sorts of lengths. Cheap and fun for everyone.

tire target

Piece of cardboard to fit inside a used tire. target stapled to that. Have someone SAFELY out of the way roll the tire, (or down a hill to the right or left if you're lucky), and shoot as it rolls across in front of the shooter. Can be very enlightening!

I used to do this with a pellet gun back in CT. On a windy/breezy day let balloons fly around or attach fishing line to them so they don't go too far and its a nice erratic moving target

I just like to find old junk with gas or electric motors for super cheap, set them running, then shoot em till they dont no more. Best one so far was a beat up ride on mower we got for $20 on craigslist. Put it out in a really wide clearing and started it running across..jumped in the truck and drove 200m out and tried to stop it..took quite a few attempts with various 22LR ammo. Kill shot went through the side and took the magneto out. It was riddled all over pretty good before it died. Totally worth the $20.

Little side note about shooting stuff on ground (gold balls, etc). Know your range and whats beyond it.

'Some folks' @ our club were shooting @ pine cones tossed on the ground, and bullets were skipping off the ground, right over the berm, and occasionaly landing in a neighborhood beyond...

gotta whole desert to play .22 golf in. orange marking spray paint the sand in anywhere from 1 foot round to 5 foot on a 100-150 YMMV course. you start by putting golf ball on tee and standing 10 foot back and shooting it. object is to get the ball in the order of the circles in the least shots, just like golf. talk about all day, definitely a winter activity out here in the desert! doing it in 120 degree heat adds a nice bonus of who gets heat stroke first.....kinda speeds thing up a notch!!!!

How about your kids toys that you keep tripping over. Thin the "toy herd" a bit. Your kid(s) / grandkids won't miss them. Trucks, stuffed animals, action figures, etc. Don't forget to donate a few in your local drop box for some less fortunate kids

I fill up 2-3 liter coke bottles and freeze them and set them up and shoot them. We use the .22's and try to unscrew the caps then hit them with my M&P40 and the back splits open and ice flies everywhere! You can shoot the same target a lot longer compared to just water. Windshield washer fluid jugs hold together the best.

stavman - how'd the dueling tree work? i've got my eye on one of those for $50...thinking i might use it for my 1911 22LR conversion kit at 20-30 yds and the 15-22.

Some of my favorites include eggs, helium balloons tied off at different yardages and heights, water bottles filled with water and food coloring, 2-liter bottles set up the same way but 100+ yards out, aluminum cans, empty prescription pill bottles filled with flour, clay pigeons in bushes.

Wow some cool idea guys. We are limited to what we can shoot at the range like no food, no bounce targets, & can only shoot range supplied steel targets.

But the wife, kids & I sometimes will take 2 target frames set on opposite ends of the pistol bays w/9-12 paper plates attached to frames that are numbered...Shooter stands in the middle of the bay at decided distance while one person calls out numbers in different orders. We see who has the best accuracy & fastest time.
