Shooting with a laser sight

I have CT grips on several wheelguns and a few auto's too.
I find lasers to great for training. Dry fire, trigger control and/or management.
Then there is the (maybe not so odd) times that you may find yourself shooting from odd positions. Or when you can't or shouldn't assume the "paper shootin, on the range, arms straight out, position." From on your side, shooting over your back, upside down, whatever, you put the dot on 'em and press.
Mine are set to be right on top of the front sight at 20'.
Good, quality laser sights stay where they are set...under most conditions.
That is why you should never forego you irons. They just help in times when you just might need...help.

Some of my autos are CT equipped. I use them for night target practice and if needed at night in SD. I watch guys at the range shoot, after 18 minutes of lining up sights they pull the trigger. WHY. Where is the bad guy who gives that much time? What kind of practice is that. If your at the range practice what you would need in SD. I would rather hit center mass three times in 1 and a half second than bulls eye in 12 minutes. These are probably the guys badmouthing lasers. Whatever helps you shoot better is a good addition.

I find the laser to be a little better than the sights in some situations. Close up not much different. If you have to make a precise shot it is a big help. I have watched really good shots shoot my AreoTec equipped G17. From the side at 25 yards you can see the bullet hit the dot. Very impressive.

You still have to use the same principles of marksmanship with a laser. You cant just put the spot on and then yank the trigger. It would probably work at conversational distances but you wouldnt need it that close.

Is the laser worthwhile? Yes, but it will take practice.

JMHO.

My wife also likes the fact that the laser dot is a BIG intimidator. She says it gives the possible intruder one more moment to reconsider when the dot is on their chest. I told her if the intruder does not stop at that point, take the shot.
