I didn't want to hijack the Shorty 45 value thread so I started this one.

Does anyone own both? If you do own both, could you post a pic of the two. I have a CS but know nothing about the Shorty 45.

I don't own a CS but do have a Shorty. The Shorty is quite a bit bigger than the CS, it's more along the size of a 6906.
I also believe the CS series was a budget gun were as the Shorty is a PC gun and most of the parts are hand fitted. There were 640 of the "MK1's" made and 179 of the MK2's.
The CS series are good guns and I might pick up one soon.

Shorty; the CS guns were an attempt at a "even smaller" 9mm,.40 or .45......... LOL do you watch "Blue Bloods" the Commissioner aka Tom Selick carries his Dad's...... 36 Chief's Special.........
The CS guns were "marketed" as a gun the "Chief" would carry..... smaller and "lighter"...... a badge of rank gun... I have someone to do my shooting for me gun.....not a "budget gun"......
Smaller but IMHO ....... a "jump the shark"gun...... when they first came out I wanted one...... but once I handled one or three.....my 3913/14s and 4513TSW (later a Sig 245) were better for me... no need to change!!!!

The Performance Center guns are basically semi-custom and top-of-the-line 3rd Gens. They are hand-fitted, reportedly very accurate, not very common, and will cost almost as much as 3 CS45's. I believe the Shorty 45 has a compact grip and a 3.75" barrel, though I've seen one listed as 3.5" barrel on the factory case.
The CS45 has a 3.25" barrel and comes from the Value Line of the 3rd Gen family, and has a 6-round sub-compact grip. Overall fit and accuracy will not be as good as the PC guns, but you can usually find one of these for sale on Gunbroker.
Another good option for a compact .45 would be the 457, it's also from the Value Line but has a 3.75" barrel and a compact 7-round grip. Basically a budget version of the Shorty 45 that usually costs less than the CS45.

I do not have a Shorty45, but I believe they are the same size as the railed version of the 4513TSW, although much better fitted, with more attention to detail, and no rail. I do have a 4513TSW later version 7 round magazines, with a rail, a 4513TSW early version 6 round magazines, without a rail, and lastly a CS45 6 round magazine. The 4513's have a 3.75" barrel, the CS45 has a 3.25" barrel. The railed 4513 has Hogue grips and a Streamlight TLR-1 HL, outfitting it for nightstand duty.
