I took my new45 Shield to the range today and I definitely need more trigger time. The gun fit well in my hand and the new grip texture is fantastic. The gun points easily and the recoil is rather mild and very controllable. The trigger felt a little heavy and gritty, but that could be me as I am used to 1911's and SIG's. With that said I actually found the hinged trigger interesting as I constantly pulled my shots either low and or left, like I said, more practice.

Now onto the question, Night Sights - will the standard aftermarket sights work on the 45, or do I need to look for 45 specific sights.

Thanks

It would probably depend on the manufacturer, honestly.

Take Trijicon, for example. Their "Bright & Tough" sight set apparently works with all versions of the M&P Shield.

Shop around, go to the respective manufacturer's websites, and confirm before purchasing. Best advice I can give. :)

The Trigicon's listed for the M&P Shield fit perfectly on my 45. I used a different brand on the 9mm Shield. I'm sure they would work also. I did have to slightly modify my sight pusher. Had to file a bit in a few places, because the 45 slide is taller & wider.

Good to know, thanks

The low/left shooting is probably caused by the massive over travel. Fix that and you're groups will move dramatically toward POA.
