SHOT SHOW 2010 REPORT

The Chiappa is a Mateba design, at least that is what the girl in the booth told me.

S&W had a 386 in their hunting guns display area, I politley notified a sales guy that the card was identifying it as a 686.."I didn't make the cards" was his reply.... wasn't my point- I thought he would want to fix it ***sigh*** They had hundreds of guns on display, I guess they couldn't get them all identified correctly. I just found it indicitive of current quality measures.

That what I thought. Wonder if they work better now that the auto feature has been removed?

My Mateba .357 has always worked just fine, although I only got it for the goofiness appeal. On the other hand, the Chiappa Rhino looks like something to seriously consider, with its nearly straight-line recoil path. Muzzle flip should be minimal.FYI, Gunblast has a photo montage of the Shot Show: SHOT Show 2010

The cylinder rotates CLOCKWISE
What?!?! After all these years, Colt was RIGHT?!?! Oh, the humanity!

At least until they changed it with their newer, and now discontinued, revolvers

Seriously though, thanks for the information. I've been trying, mostly successfully, not too buy any more guns. A model 48 has always been on the short list though.

Hey Thanks Shawn ,I felt bad that I didnt go to the show because of the weather in so/cal but now you covered all the things I would have checked anyway, thank you so much.About the lock thing ,Im sure that at some time, for some reason, somewhere, one of the internal locks on a S/W could have malfunctioned, just like hammernoses break, mainsprings break, cylinder stops lock up etc, but Im one of 6 people who maintain the handguns for over 10,000 people most own and shoot at least one if not more than one J-frame, most having been purchased in the last 5 years or so, and Im not aware of a lock ever malfunctioning even once on any of these weapons at any time during training or while being carried. I dont like the locks either but I would rather have a S+W revolver with a lock than be forced to buy and carry another brand of revolver, with all their issues, cause I have owned and own others, that I wont even sell, they are now in paperweight mode.Thats all I say about the locks. Thanks again Shawn, Bob

It has nothing to do with Mateba, it's a rework of the russian Nosorog AEK 906 revolver - they didn't even change the name, Nosorog is a russian word for Rhino...

Is this new or am I late to the party? When can we expect this to hit the street?
