Shot the Shield, Love the Shield, shoulda' listened to the Doc

But gonna try to fire it tomorrow. I've only seen good reviews on this weapon.does anybody have any pointers on how I should break it in.

Congrats on the Shield. As for break-in, load the mags, insert one in the gun and start shooting, repeat as necessary, clean, lube, and prepare to do it again. Other than that, if you plan on carrying it, find some good defense ammo and shoot a sufficient quantity to verify its' accuracy and reliability before you carry with it. Hornaday Critical Duty is really good stuff.

Good Luck and good shooting. :D

Gunny or anyone-

Would you share your thoughts, if any, on the Sticky holster vs. the Nemesis?

Best wishes in your recovery.

I have a Remora, really like it, it's similar to the stichy. Right now they have them 40% off and a free mag pouch thrown in

That's a great deal and I encourage y'all to get in on it!

I sold the Sticky and got the Remora IWB RFT for my Shield. I'm also getting a standard one for the Beretta M9A1. I definitely prefer the Remora over the Sticky.

Glad you like your new Shield. I think everyone should get one. I've bought and sold MANY 9mm pistols over the years, trying to find the right one for me. One trip to the range with my Shield and my search was over.

I even had a buddy at work ask me if I was interested in selling mine. I told him absolutely not! If he wants one, he'll have to go buy his own.:D

At least for me, the Shield is the BEST concealed pistol out there. When one weighs the different factors, my opinion is based upon the fact that for practical purposes we seldom ever have to use our pistols for protection. Given that fact, and since the Shield is so accurate and so much fun to shoot it beats any other pistol for concealed carry even those that are smaller.

For instance, I don't particularly miss my 442-2 which is a better concealed handgun. The weight of it is considerably less than the Shield's, and it is more pocketable.

When it comes down to it I don't find the J-frame much fun to shoot at the range, especially with +P ammo. So I did not shoot it much.

Concealability and it's light weight are certainly excellent with the J, but it's just not much fun as a range gun. I need to enjoy my handguns and that factor weighs heavily. The three extra rounds, rounds of 9mm, are an additional benefit of the Shield over the J in .38 special.

I did sell my 442-2, and now rely on the Shield for the range and self-defense.

The one and only drawback I can find with the Shield 9mm is the 7 round mag. I cannot, no matter how hard I try, get the mag to lock into place with 7 rounds in it. It simply won't lock into mag well. With the 8 rounder, I can carry 8+1 easily but for the 7 round to be locked in, it ends up being 6+1.

Over the years when cleaning mags I have found lots of junk, from wads of lint to metal shavings. I recall a tiny shaving keeping one of my MP45 mags from adding the 10th round, no how no way was that 10th round going in.
Just thinking out loud.

I had that concern in the beginning but it just broke in. Suggest that you insert mag gently until you feel resistance then forcefully tap up the bottom of the mag with the heel of your palm. Make sure the top round is seated properly to the rear of the magazine and does not protrude before doing the above.

Gunny - Do you use your Sticky holster for IWB carry? I have a N82 IWB holster but would like something lighter for hot weather.

Yes Sir! I have the Sticky and a Remora for my Glock 30SF. With few exceptions, those are the holsters I use. They're quick to tuck in my pants and keep my firearms where they belong. My younger brother carries a Shield .40 in a Sticky daily. He's a Fire Chief, first responder kinda guy, and when he's not doing that, he carries it when out on the Harley. His daughter even uses one to carry her Bodyguard. For about $25, you can't go wrong.

Wow, it's hard to believe it was a year ago yesterday that I was released from the hospital after heart surgery. I've healed up nicely, although if I yank on something a little heavier than I should, my breast bone will still let me know. Part of that comes with age, too. A few things have changed over the past year. Changes at work, fewer guys in the shop, just as much work, no more pay. I no longer have my shield :( , my buddy is becoming an LEO and liked my Shield so much, I made him a deal. I've been packing a Glock 30SF instead, but am considering another Shield for myself. My garage door has finally been repaired. :D Sadly, I lost my BIL a little over a week ago. Fortunately, the family got my wife home so she could see him before he passed. She's back home now, now to start on the lawn so we're not the scourge of the neighborhood.

Well, I've rambled enough, but thought I'd bring everyone back up to speed. Good Luck and good shooting my friends. :D

Gunny Glad to see you healed well. Sucks to get old lol. Man we have a ton more work and not enough guys. I am looking to retire this year. I ve been luck heart wise but broken in a few other places lol..
