Should I buy another handgun or get a rifle.?

Buy the rifle

I'm torn, i'm trying to decide if I should buy another handgun to my collection or get a m&p 15-22. I don't any experience with rifles but is curious. But on the other hand I'm itching to add to my small gun collection.

If you really have NO experience with a rifle, that's what I think you should get next. Start with a .22, later you'll want a center fire.

Of course if money is no problem get 'em both, as a few posters have already suggested!

I got my M&P .40 FS back in late April and I'm on a hunt for a 15-22 now or a bolt action rifle. I may go with the 15-22 since I also plan to get an AR-15 in the future chambered in either 5.56 or .308. For ow I'm content with my pistol, just itching to get a rifle.

Rifle, without a doubt. However, I'd go for the M&P15. You're gonna wind up with an AR of some kind sooner or later, might as well jump right into the deep end. The 223's well mannered enough it won't take long to get used to.

I agree...everyone needs a rifle. In fact, you should consider getting a rim-fire (such as the 15-22), and then later adding a decent semi-auto center-fire rifle (such as AK, AR, SKS, M1A, etc.), if your budget and local regs. allow.

Agreed. EVERYONE needs a rim-fire (Rifle and pistol). The M&P 15-22 is great for just pure fun and inexpensive marksmanship training for the AR platform...

Everyone should have a .22 rifle!!! Should be a law!!!

I have had a .22 rifle since I was 16....we could go buy it ourselves!!! (MA.) And I am 70!!! Never been without one!!!!!!!
The MP15-22 gets you into a rifle in an affordable caliber and into the AR platform!!! "CAUTION" It will lead to bigger AR's though!!!
I have the MP 15 ORC and the MP 15-22.
$25 +/- for 100 rounds!!!

I think I'm becoming a gun nut, I just brought another handgun in April and I'm already itching to buy another. But.... I'm sure I can justify a reason why I need another one....

I justified my last purchase because I didn't have a dedicated gun for the car... :)

Get a .22 rifle, you won't regret it. Good ones are available under $200, and some like the Mossberg 702 hardly run over $100. I would not blow $300 or $400 on an AR-style 22. Go basic at first. You'll have plenty of money left over for your next gun.

After reading all these posts, you will catch the same illness I have. Im in DROS till Feb 2013. You will also be looking for a new safe soon......

Just as a golfer has many clubs in his bag, a shooter should have many guns in his or her safe. Different guns are good for different shooting sports. One should have the proper tool for the job, whether it is sport shooting, hunting or personal defense. At least that is how I justify my addiction.

I've had a Ruger 22 rifle for a long time and it's a lot of fun. However, I am a big fan of the M&P series. I am saving for the 9mm - thinking about competition shooting.
If you have good places to shoot outdoors, then a rifle seems like a good idea.

We, the 'gun crazy American public' do not need "REASONS" other than "I want it"...and my wife has no objections!!

My daughter just bought a 15-22 for herself and she really likes it. I am hoping it doesn't completely replace her Remington Nylon 66............she is deadly with the 66!

every good American needs a proper semi-auto battle rifle, preferably in .308 or 30-06 cal with minimum 1,000 rnds ammo.

never know when the radicalized zombies will be in the wire:eek::D

I have my eye on the m&p 15-22 moe version flat dark earth or the M&P 9mm flat dark earth. They are both a beauty!!

My justified reason can be anywhere from "it's a different color", "need one for this room area" , "size" , "caliber"....Oh my gosh the excuses can go on forever. I think I need a intervention. :)
