I just placed an order for 4 M&P 40 fs 15rd mags with Streichers for $24.99 a piece but was told there are over 2000 orders infront of me, then yesterday I find a guy who is willing to sell me 4 new mags for $45 a piece right now...should I buy or wait???

Well, you're the only person who can answer that. Do you have any magazines at all? How bad do you want/need them? Its possible that since the most recent gun control efforts have failed(at least, for now!)prices & availability on things like magazines will come down soon. If that magazine is the same as the Sigma 15 rounder, Midway shows to have them in stock for $33.99. Here's a link:

Smith & Wesson | Mags by Gun Make & Model Pg 2

hope this helps you!:cool::D

Unless you absolutely have to have them today, I'd wait. While I have an AR, with about 7, or 8 mags, I never felt the need to have a bunch like I do for my AK's. So when the price jumped from $14 to $80 after the Conn incident, I felt the need to buy more, but there was no way in hell I was going to pay insane prices because of an idiot. So this week at the local gun show I bought 5 P-mags for $15 each. So I waited, & the price came back to normal. I'd advise you to do the same. GARY

$45 is too much. Unless you are going to a gunfight today, in which case you should just stay home anyway, you can afford to wait. Magazines are one of the things that will be back in stock sooner.

Thanks everyone...I'm waiting...already have 2 10rd mags for my 40c and I guess I was excited to try the FS mags with the x-grip for it but yeah I'll wait...first hadgun excitment...thanks again!!!

wait

every time you buy from those scalpers you encourage them to continue the price gouging

I have an M&P 40C on order from Streicher's. I ordered it & paid for it on December 10, 2012, #7 on the list, & am still waiting. The price alone is worth the wait especially when you figure in the 3rd magazine & night sights. At that time I was told it would be 3 months & maybe a year for a Shield. It's already been over 4 months. They were suppose to get a shipment on April 1st. I guess that was wrong. I didn't even bother going back to order a couple of 15 round mags.

Check with Botach on occasion also. They've been known to offer M&P mags for very reasonable prices when they have them in stock. I personally would not pay inflated prices for mags (or anything else) unless I was absolutely desperate. I know the wait is hard to deal with, but there are some signs that this frenzy is burning out to some degree; and it would not upset me a bit to see those who bought stuff in bulk with the intention of scalping end up taking a loss on their efforts.

For what its worth, a friend bought a brand-new Colt AR model 6900 flat top, no sights, one mag for just under $1100 from a gun store in the Kansas City area yesterday. He called me to ask if it was a good deal. I had to tell him that I didn't think he was getting a terribly bad price, as the Colt name alone commanded a little higher price than a comparable Bushmaster, etc. Back in December, we had looked at a no-name brand M-4 style carbine that a shop was selling for $1500 a pop and on back order to boot. Quantico Tactical is back to offering certain M&P 15s to LE/Military for under $900. Assuming we don't hit any more emotion-fueled bumps in the road for the rest of the year, I think the prices are going to come down and the availability will return.

Just a FYI... I put a order in with Botach for 2 M&P 9 mags back around the 1st week of Jan 2013. They were back ordered at that time, but were available (in stock) the week prior. I get fairly regular emails from Botach about the status. which I have kept my order (these are just extras since I bought the carry/range kit & have 3) I will not pay the inflated prices were selling for $80-100 each here in the Metro Phx area at local gun shows. I was told to expect to get them sometime around May-June when I called Botach back in Feb. I can't justify paying over what I can buy them for from Botach ($24.99) or even direct from S&W. I think if you are willing to sit tight for a couple months things will change. Just my opinion YMMW.
