Being my first thread, I'll introduce myself.
My father has his father's S&W Victory .38 from WWII and will be rightfully passed down to me :D.
I bought a 637 a few months back for a great deal. On sale for $380 -$30 from S&W sale plus my gun place had one of the guys from S&W there doing free trigger jobs if you bought a S&W revolver that weekend.

Now I am looking at the model 686. Seems pretty sweet.
There are a couple on backpage but I might consider buying it new.

If I went new, I would get the 686 plus

Whats your guys' take on the 4" or 6"
Would you carry a 4" 686? 6" just for car carry and conceal my 1911?

The 4" nice for carry day to day.
For hunting I carry a 6" 629 and never have a problem with it.

As to the ones listed if you spend your time looking you should find one for under 500.00.

I have found deals in Shooters Vault on 32nd st. and Green way and Prescott Valley guns.

Prescott Valley I found .357 Colt King Cobra for 450.00 and Peace keeper for 439.00.

Plus check out ArizonaShooting.com • Index page in the classifieds

Welcome to the forum. You have two fine revolvers there in the Victory and the 637.

The 686 is a great pistol, but with a 6" barrel it gets a bit heavy. I prefer the 4", but it depends upon where it will be used. For a trail gun, either length would be fine.

alright, well that 4" guy sold his
But I found another one

686-4 4" $550. says excellent condition
so I think we're going to check it out sometime soon
