I am barely acquainted with forum member & SWCA member DARE. I met him when I sold him a nickle TL about a year ago. Our entire exchange lasted maybe 5 minutes and we have had no contact since.
I reached out to David last week when I realized that I would not be able to attend the annual Symposium in Tulsa this year due to a family medical issue. I had intended to take a few guns and accessories for the SWCA auction. I asked if David might be willing to deliver said items to the Symposium, thinking I would drive the almost 2 hours and deliver the guns to him early this week, and he agreed without hesitation. When a scheduling problem on my part occurred, David jumped in his truck and came to my office to get the guns and accessories. And then refused gas money !
These are the kind of people you meet in the SWCA, and if you have been on the fence about joining, or thinking maybe it was some elitist group, please reconsider and join some of the best people you can imagine.

Regards,
Bruce

No problem Bruce, glad to help.
I have had members do me favors as well.
USBP SW sent me a correct box for my .22/32 Airweight Kit Gun and would not even let me pay the postage. My guess is that box would sell for $100 to $200.
I would like to hear about some more good deeds.
What's the nicest thing a member has done for you?

I have been a member of the SWCA for a couple years, I live in Italy and I only know some people through the forum.
I cannot come to the Symposium in Tulsa and I have asked to an important Member, perhaps future president, to look for me the original presentation advertisement for the 38-44 HD.
John found it and promptly wrote to me.
I've never seen John, I know him only through the forum.
We're on two different continents but he didn't hold back when I asked him for this favor.
Nice people are here.

i have found that other members are generous with their time and items they have. Dave Teeters sent me an original journal from 2006 that I was looking for and paid the postage. Rick Nahas gave me a very nice box for a M59 and wouldn't take a penny for it. Richard Garner has answered multiple questions for me on gun engraving and glady weighs in on any I am interested in buying. Another member sold me a almost NIB pre-39 for a fair price not so long ago. Bob Radaker gave me a great set of smooth rosewood grips for a M39. these are just some examples of generous members and none of it would have been possible had I not been attending the yearly Symposiums. I encourage everyone that's not a member to join the SWCA and come to next years Symposium in Concord NC.
