I have a few but this is the only one I have pics of at this time. It
is a U S Navy marked Victory model. Not mint but a good plinker.

Here is a Pre-war .38 M&P HE from 1917-1918. I picked it up last Sunday at a local show. It's a six inch, with diamond magnas. I have several Pre-war M&P's but this is the earliest one so far. I really like the look of it. I plan to load up some .38 Special round nose lead bullets and see how it shoots.

After looking at the previous guns, I know this ain't so pretty. But, here it is.

Looks better in person. Didn't have any indirect light; had to use the flash. And the danged flash shows every bit of character.

Yep, at some point in the past, someone bobbed the hammer. Previous owner said the original grips had been sanded down when he got it and he lost them. Other than that, it's very nice. Doesn't appear to have been re-blued. Slight patina on the backstrap. Some holster wear on the high points. Bore is clean and lockup is tight.

This is going to be a shooter and worked into my carry rotation after I push some rounds downrange. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can get some period diamond grips?

Don't worry, AA.
It's beautiful.

Photo from an earlier post in this thread....

went away when Image Cave disappeared, so thought I would grab another.

Not a big fan of pearlies but these steerheads were so good I had to buy them.

If you don't mind, what is the approximate serial number on this one? I have one that is quite similar and I think it is in that time range but am not sure.
Thanks.

Three Pre-War M&P's

Some Pre-war M&P's, the nickel one is from the 1930's. The middle one is from the 1920's as I recall. Both of those are 38 Special. The top one is a 22 Outdoorsman from the 1930's.

One of these days I'll learn how to do pictures - take them & post them.

I do not have pictures of all of them but this is one of my favorites.
An M&P 2nd Model (1902) which has a serial number that precedes the earliest one recorded in SCSW and History of Smith and Wesson.

My 2.

This one is from about 48 or 49 serial number c10876

This one I believe is a 53 model. Serial number c245861.
She has a lot of wear on the right side stock. Looks like a
lot of hands on while in a holster. Maybe a police gun that
got handled a lot on duty.
