I really enjoy the time I get to spend with opoefc (Ed C.), Clem and others at the Yuma Gunshow 2-3 times a year. Ed always digs out something I've never seen before to amaze me, figure I might as well share some of the experience.

1st let me say the Murphy's Gunshow is the way all of them should be. Good Old Country Atmosphere. Free Steak Dinner for all the exhibitors on Sataurday Nights over the Barbeque.

The Musicians a pickin and a grinnin

Amazing Stuff Thanks Ed I really enjoyed seeing some more of your goodies.

My new years resolution was to stay away from BBQ Guns but this one was brought to me and I just couldnt say NO. Pre Model 10 Serial # C44628. Its had a few mods made to it but the previous Owner really thought it belonged with my Herd of Cattle guns. Its been colterized a little is really a neat conversation piece. Thanks Clem

Nice pre-Model 10...I think you have more BBQ guns than I have guns!
Sounds like a great show, I need to swing out and attend one of those...with a full wallet, I suspect.

Thanks for the report, Dan. It sounds like you guys really know how to throw a party ... I mean a gunshow!

As Dan says, We have a fun time at the Yuma, AZ gun shows. He's always bugging me to bring something he has never seen before so he can shoot some pics - I think he collects more pics than BBQ guns!. Here's a little more background on some of the above guns. The first one is .32 DA, which I call the "S&W From Hell" - it went back to the factory SEVEN times for rework/repairs in a two year period , circa 1909-1911, according to the date codes stamped on the left grip frame! S&W didn't make any money on the warranty on that one. The .31 Iron Frame came from the Wesson Family estate many years ago. I call it D.B.Wesson's Concealed Carry gun! There was a home styled ISP holster with it when I got it years ago that finally fell apart. That was before DNA was discovered or I could have had it tested!- The Aussie Police is the same gun as pictured in Neal & Jinks, and I put pearls on it and cased it for display. The NM#3 Target I got last year from a Forum member. I had been looking for a NM#3 in caliber .45 Schofield to go with some research I'm doing on the target advertised in 1897 in "Forest & Stream" as shot by Walter Winans, using .45 S&W Schofield ammo. The Keeper of Records at North London Rifle Club ( Bisley) is looking thru their archives to see if he can verify which of Winan's revolvers was used to shoot the target. It's a long shot, but it could be the gun in the above picture. It is my premise that this target was shot as an advertising exercise for Marcus Hartley, who owned U.M.C. Cartridge Co. and has a large supply of .45 Schofield ammo on hand to get rid of, as that cartridge is not exactly a target round, compared to .44S&W Russian caliber. Having a famous champion shooter, like Walter Winan, shoot a target at Bisley for you to put in the shooting press might help your sales. Hope some of the rest of this Forum's members enjoy these pics. Maybe I'll keep bring Dan something to take more pics of! Ed.

Ed,

Next trip you need to bring some of your extensive Heritage Firearms Collection

Seriously let me thank you for the time and effort you spend educating me with your Toys. And your right I enjoy the Pictures almost as much as the Guns themselves. That will be one of my 2009 resolutions is to take better Pictures.

Dan

Sorry Dan, I just swapped my extensive Heritage collection to Clem for two Iver Johnsons and a cigar box of RG Industries parts, however I can bring some of my Pinto Rimfire Registered Magnums for you to photo. Ed.

Hello Dan. Everyone else.
I made it to the Yuma gunshow both days, hometown adventure. I missed the "show and tell" of Ed's unique presentations. I did get to look at Dans newest, the one with the underlug and extensive work. It is one of a kind and looks very well done. I had the feeling of looking at a prototype of the L frame design. Probably the work was done several decades before S&W made it an official design. This gun and the 6 guns that he has shown with the steer head grips were in a display case. They are some unique items. There is a .357 Triple Lock, it has a good history somewhere.
Had several good visits with Dan over both days and he has a collecting area that has very interesting guns. Has a nice small herd of steers.
I met Clem and Ed again, two fine gentlemen, with ability to answer any S&W question that has an answer, and then pull from under the table and show you a couple of answers. If you can attend West Coast gun shows, time with these two gents is worth the price of admission and maybe even lunch.
I spent my money on 2 sets of S&W stocks and 3 Morgan silver dollars. It was a great show.
Dan the grips I got from you made my 3 1/2 inch pre 27 look much better. Thank you.
Bill
