Show your Roper grips

What was the idea behind Butchering the Left Panel? I just can't see what they where trying to accomplish:confused::eek:

Best guess is that they were trying to fit them to a gun. With a hacksaw. On the bright side it's nearly all internal damage, I think what needs to be repaired or cleaned up can be.

Once again this forum needs a button for "ADORE" or "LUST AFTER." That latest pair you show SGS is my dream pair of Ropers. Thanks for sharing (even if they do just frustrate me! :rolleyes:

No man, don't get frustrated, just find your own set.

I was exactly in your place a bit over a year ago, and since then I've just been after them like mad. It's not cheap, but its worth it.

If you don't have the time or patience to try for originals get a set of Keith Brown's. I'm an ever more fervent believer in buying the right thing, and frankly if you want a set of fine Roper style stocks his are right. The original ones are sort of collectable in their own right since they were all made for someone else's hands instead of yours. Each set is something you have to plan on loving even if you can't really use them yourself.

This thread is 5 years old!!! Thanks for breathing life into it. Beautiful grips!

Seems like the thread to post these in. It's one of the main threads that has drive my gun and gun accessory hunting over the past year. The openness and friendliness coupled with the knowledge and out and out astonishing nature of many of the collections of people on this forum are all very inspiring to new collectors such as myself.

A set of target Ropers from a couple of weeks ago. Hiding underneath the grips is an Colt Officers Model from 1938 or so. Rick

Here is some of my collection.

Although there do not appear to be any S&W's in that photo - what a great collection of Ropers and the guns that they are attached to. I especially like the Ponies that have have been bridled with those King Super Target ribs.:):):) Saddling them with the Ropers is just the icing on the cake!:D

I stopped by quickly and saw Don Mundell at the Marlboro gun show over the weekend. He had a sweet set of Ropers that he let me check out. Maybe he can snap a picture of them.

Here is a set of fully checkered Ropers for a Colt Officer's Model. Note, on the back "HB" is carved into the right grip panel. These were found on a (albeit trashed) Colt OM Heavy Barrel .38. Now they reside on my King Sighted OM .38.

Twins to the Ropers on my King Modified 38/44 Outdoorsman;
