Late 80's - early 90's I worked for a print shop making deliveries mostly around the three counties in a shop truck I took home at the end of the day. Depending on where and when I was after the last stop there was a few places I'd use to fortify myself to face the commute home.
If I was lucky I'd be in downtown Miami for far and away my favorite was only a quick jaunt out JFK Causeway to Bay Harbor Island and Shucker's Waterfront Bar and Grill. With a beautiful view to the north, dollar drafts and $.25 steamers for minimal dollars I could kill an hour then head east to A1A for an easy 12 mile drive north before cutting inland to go home.
I've only been there twice in the last 20 years but was a bit bummed to see it had fallen victim to skyrocketing rent and developer squeeze.

Sad to see another local spot going away, seem more and more the same story dam near everywhere.
Just a moment...

Anywhere there's water or a nice view, developers make an offer the owner can't refuse and put up a McMansion built out to the setback lines and height limits or get a zoning change to build an upscale (I despise that word) hotel/restaurant/retail establishment that the locals can't afford.
Visiting my sister, I've seen it along the Florida west coast -Tampa to Ft Myer - where all the people size houses and long time local favorite restaurants are disappearing under the invasion of wealthy come-heres. TPTB approve the zoning changes because they love the increased tax revenue, all the while spouting euphemisms and platitudes how it will help the locals. Ha Ha.
